Shana, welcome to the list. You will love it here. Go to the main page, on

the upper left, click on files, then click on recipes. There are thousands,

and they are sorted out for you. There is also a file for kids recipes.

They will love sandwiches wrapped in greens instead of bread.

HI Keri:

I thought I had written this at first. My daughter and I are vegetarian my

husband and son are not.

I do no cook meat however my husband cooks both vegetarian and he cooks

meat.

It takes patience and understanding by everyone in the household to be

divided this way however it can work.

Welcome.

Yesterday, I tried the potato-lentil cakes from the recipe file here on the

site. They were wonderful! I added lots of fresh garlic to the mix. They were

hearty, tasty, and great for a cooler September evening. Maybe your husband

would like those. Psst...don't tell him they are vegetarian...Sometimes,

families are more willing to try things if we don't put the " vegetarian " word in

front of it. (LOL)

Elaine,

I have had the same problem when I try to cook tofu at home. I have found

that if you use less oil and let it cook without touching it that it cooks

better. I still haven't had it come out perfect, but my problem seems to be

too much oil and trying to check it too often.

I have also seen instructions for a dry frying method that is supposed to be

easy. From what I remember you just cook it in a non stick pan until its

browned, and then marinade it. However, I don't have any non stick pans so I

haven't been able to try that way yet.

Thanks for writing back to me. The product I'm trying to find out more about is called Femulen. As far as I know, it's the only birth control that does not contain any animal products. My doctors don't list it as one they can prescribe yet so I'm trying to get as much information about it as possible. Thanks again for replying!Debrafraggle <EBbrewpunxTo:

Thanks so much Jo for the website link! This is one I was able to

find as well, but nothing else unfortunately. Since my doctors don't

have it on the list to prescribe, I'm trying to find out how to change

that.

If you come across anything else could you please send it my way?

Also, does anyone have a good recipe for making cheesy popcorn with

nutritional yeast?

Thanks again for your response and have a great weekend!

I took a look at the website, and it said the birth control was primarily progesterone.

That is what the Deppo shot is (the shot you get once every 3 months), and my experience on the Depp shot was traumatic, to say the least.

If you have never used hormone-based methods, I suggest caution. Some women just don't respond well to tampering. Elaine

Hi I would simply like to introduce myself to the group, I have been vegan for over 2 years now and so far have not met another. I am very passionate about what I believe, and try to live an 'ethical' life as much as is possible due to certain restraints. Being vegan to me is part of my entire life philosophy, which centres around improving the world and every living thing held upon it, I want to be positive energy that makes other things I interact with feel better about themsleves. I am also a firm believer in living by example, I beleive that showing somebody how I live(trying to elimminate prejudice and malice), will acheive more than telling somebody how to act, I am also an optimist in the sense that where many consider the world, and indeed society to be on a downward spiral, heading for doom, well I have faith that this world can improve and will, but it involves every individual no matter

how insignificant they may seem to keep a hold of there principles and morality. Is the vegan community generally on a similar wave length? or does being vegan mean something unique to each and every person? either way lifes a vast and exciting journey, so hi to the group, I hope to become an active member who can hopefully contribute something to your group, Nath

Welcome Nath! Glad to have you as part of the group. I can't speak

for every vegan out there, but I myself agree with your life

philosophy. I think by being an example of what you believe it

speaks louder than anything you could say to another person. It can

be tough to live ethically in all aspects of life, especially being

vegan where you're a minority. But, like others I'm sure, I do the

best I can.

I'm surprised you haven't met another vegan after 2 yrs of being

vegan yourself. Where do you live?

Nice again to have you in the group.

Hi Nath

Welcome to the group.

It's good to be so positive, and it must encourage other people to feel the same.

well I am 22, and live near Newcastle upon tyne, in the north east of

England. I have had a fair ammount of attention from friends, and

people I meet at uni, who most seem offended at the fact I abstain from

something they eat, it's strange how folk react, although alot of

people after discussion respect my view, and some discuss the

possibility mainly of them becoming vegetarian, which I always

encourage. I love being Vegan, I am a keen cook, and so cook all of my

meals fresh, avoiding anything artificial, and as long as i cook at

home I can have a variety of delicious meals. The problem is eating out

when socialising, there is one cafe within around 50 miles that caters

for Vegans, so generally I have to have garden salads when out. I study

nursing, and love interacting with people. I read alot of philosophy,

and love the outdoors, cycling, climbing, walking, anything involving

nature. I am also a musician, I write and record music, and that is

just about me in a nutshell. Is anyone in the group from the UK, or

even the north of England? How is veganism in the states, are

establishments more accesibile? Thanks for your welcomes, Nath
