Kinda OT: Holiday Food Drive in San Diego, CA

Hi all,

A couple of us from a North San Diego County playgroup are getting

together to donate to a holiday food drive for the San Diego Food Bank

between now and December 18. If you're in the area and want to join us

in this effort, let me know - on- or off-list, whichever. We do this

each year in our family, and donate vegetarian and organic foods, hoping

to help fill that need for vegetarian families.

It's shocking to think that over 300,000 people are without enough food

at any given time in this county, and the need for food assistance like

this has increased by 60% since this time last year. If each of us

donated just a little, we could help out the families who don't even

know where their children's next meal is coming from.

And if you're interested in doing your own food drive in San Diego, the

local food banks are San Diego Food Bank (www.sandiegofoodbank.org

<http://www.sandiegofoodbank.org/> ) and North County's Food Bank

(www.sdnccs.org <http://www.sdnccs.org/> , contact Tim Ney, Director of

Community Relations). If you're elsewhere in the country, you could try

using this food bank locator:

http://feedingamerica.org/foodbank-results.aspx. In other countries,

here is a link to a few: <http://www.wjfb.org/about_us.htm>

http://www.wjfb.org/about_us.htm, and I'm sure one of these other

agencies could link you to others.

Thanks,

Lorraine
