Hello Annie! I am not too far from you-- I am in Williamsburg. I get out

your way from time to time, and yes, the Blue Ridge is beautiful!! I have

an awesome (if I say so myself! lol) photo that I captured on my last visit,

near you, last fall. :)

Welcome!

Hi Annie, I am Sheyen 33, married, no kids. I am a Lacto-ovo or

should say 95% lacto-ovo with the other 5% working on it, lol. Just

been doing this for the past month, so it is not hard, but

difficult, especially with hubby being a kitchen manager, and the

only thing at his bar that is meatless, are some of the appetizers,

and salad. Anyway, welcome

This particular shot is of the blue haze that the area is known, and named,

for. ;)

It really is an awesome shot, and I have considered having it blown to

poster size. :)

Hmmm, that may take some time to find it...I am a digital photo freak, and

have thousands! lol. But when I do, does this group allow attachments, or

shall I post it in the files/photo section? seems OT...???

Hello,

My name is Charleen and I'm a newbie to vegetarianism. Giving up

meat was really no problem for me, though some are a little harder

to part with but, I'm still okay with that too. I'm looking forward to

chatting and swapping recipes here with you all.

Welcome, Heather! We hope you enjoy our group :)

So you have been Vegan 'only a few weeks'. Well,

I have to tell you that that's a huge achievement

- a big step to take and one you won't regret, I

promise.

> I still have my slips now

> > and then, but I am trying.

Well of course you do - everyone does at first,

even if they don't know it. But as you say, you

are trying and that's wonderful!

Don't worry too much about the others in your

household - just get on with your own way of

eating. It's not that difficult and they are less

likely to bother you about it if you don't make a

big deal of it - I think and hope anyway!!!!!!

Find our recipes - something there for everyone!

Hi,

I've been a vegan since May. It has been an easy transition. I really don't know what took me so long. My husband is an omnivore but he likes vegan recipes so dinner time is fine! I have a son who is a vegetarian. He is leaving for Boston University for his first year of college in a few weeks. My daughter is 22 and lives about an hour away from me.

The biggest problem I have had since going vegan is when I go to restaurants. We got out rather frequently. Admittedly I am rather reserved and not about to bug the kitchen to make changes for me. I do try to chose restaurants wisely though sometimes that isn't possible when we are going out with friends who have their hearts set on a particular place.

I love to cook. Preparing vegan recipes has been a new adventure....to a certain extent. When my kids were little we mostly ate vegan because we couldn't afford meat. Actually it wasn't unusual because as an Italian I grew up with greens, beans and pasta. I do love the newer cookbooks and recipes. I admit I am having a lot of fun experimenting!

As for me....I'm 49 and a retired home care nurse. I have many hobbies....cooking, running, biking, woodcarving, reading....to name a few. I live in the Finger Lakes area of NY

Here's my introduction. I decided to go vegetarian for Lent because I tend to

not like meat anyway and found myself falling into a rut of just microwaving a

lean pocket or something. Ever since becoming vegetarian I have seen a huge

change in the way I cook/eat. I eat only freshly cooked meals now! I have not

cooked this much in.... ever! I was always eating microwave meals or maybe a

quick lunchmeat and cheese sandwich. Wow, it almost feels like freedom because I

am discovering I have so many choices by cooking my own meals. I am loving

finding new vegetarian recipes as well. I just might stay this way after Lent,

however I do see I have been craving boneless hot wings lately. I'm thinking its

just the hot sauce I'm actually craving and am trying to think of a way to

satisfy my craving. Otherwise, I do reallly enjoy my new found vegetarianism.

I'm also a breastfeeding mama.

Have you tried these? I saw them in the store and they didn't look " saucy "

enough for me. I love the sauce! What do you think?
