Whole foods vs. juicing; Trusting Nature's design as paradigm shift; Body cleanses itself (WAS: Dehydration symptoms / Dry Skin)

Hi Laura,

Yes, many people teach about the wonders of juicing. But when we move away

from Nature's design, in this case away from the whole food, we give up a

great deal. And whenever we move away from Nature's design, we immediately

begin to invest in equipment and to compensate for what we are giving up.

I'll not mention any specific examples, so as not to criticize anyone in

particular. Hopefully the general principle stands clearly upon its own

merit.

When we juice, food moves through our digestive tract at a speed approaching

that of water. Contrary to the notion that we absorb more, we actually

absorb less, simply because the food moves through so quickly. It is

correct, in a limited sense, to say that we absorb " more easily " ... but we

absorb less. Further, because all the fiber is removed, we absorb sugars

MUCH too quickly into the blood stream.

We are designed to digest different foods at different speeds, based upon

their water, protein, fat, mineral, etc. content. When we turn our food into

a flood, we just miss a lot. Please note that I'm not saying juicing is

" bad " . I do enjoy an occasional juice, as when one of our local farmers

produces organic apple cherry juice. But here, we have someone with clear,

present symptoms which most people comprehend not. The whole food will be

vastly preferable in this case, preferable as a habit in general.

Also, regarding the whole notion of " cleanses " , I offer a basic principle

and a paradigm shift:

Principle: Every part of our being cleanses, restores, and replenishes

itself through healthful use.

Paradigm shift: As we begin to trust Nature's design (or the divine

design, or whatever language anyone may wish to use), we begin to realize

that our finest and fastest path to well-being lies in embracing Nature's

inherent processes, and getting out of Nature's way. This growing sense of

trust supersedes and replaces our former, learned desire to intervene. We

forego all treatments, cleanses, and the like, except in certain cases

involving trauma.

Hope this makes sense and is helpful!

Best to all,

Elchanan

If you can find watermelon at any price, then would you consider eating

watermelon only for about 3-4 days? I think you'd experience marvelous

results in a very short time. This would be much more effective than " adding

water " --- what we eliminate is at least as important as what we add,

usually more important. This is often overlooked in RF thinking<<

you know something i heard was really good to do with a watermelon is to

juice the entire thing...yes, even the green part. it's supposed to be a

powerful cleanse for the kidneys and for " emergency " rehydration. i've done

this and most of my family liked it...'cept me. which is the case with just

about everything i make...like some of the dehydrated snacks...i just don't

like 'em. and most nuts and seeds i don't like as well. i am drawn to the

juicy, sweet fruits and bananas. and i like crunchy veggies like celery and

radishes and cucumbers. i think i could live on just those things alone. but

the juiced watermelon was really rehydrating without being so very filling.

i think sometimes if you are dehydrated, you need so much of the juicy

fruits to rehydrate but your stomach can't take that much whole food. that's

something i think juicing is good for...otherwise i prefer to just have the

fruits whole.

laura
