Guest guest
Hey everyone. This is Denise Webber in Audubon, IA. I've been on maternity leave, so haven't been on the computer much. For those of you who know me, I'm doing great and baby Juniper is already 9 1/2 weeks old. She just had her two month check up and already weighs 12 lbs 11oz! That mama juice is treating her right! Color/pattern of our dinner ware: handmade pottery, some are blue with swirls of color and some are burgandy. James bought them at the Oregon Country Fair. I'll be starting work soon, May 22; but before that we are flying to Portland, OR for 10 days to visit all of our friends. cheers, Denise feralvegetarian_moderators <feralvegetarian_moderators wrote: Time again for our monthly roll call. Unfortunately, plain white, very solid, everyday " china " which came with my husband via his mother. We eloped and never asked for, nor really received, any wedding gifts like china, bedding, appliances, or whatever it is that newlyweds require. However, my Italian MIL is very practical about her own kitchen goods and she is always collecting stuff from garage sales...then foisting it onto us. My goal this year is buy locally made, preferably well crafted, multi-coloured plates, bowls, mugs, etc so that my hubby and I finally have dishware that fits *us*, not the MIL. ;-) Oddly enough, I am also a 'bowl' user and *never* use my husband's china (I always think of it as 'his', not 'mine'!). I bought myself a couple of big, cheap Chinese bowls - the kind with the blue fish painted on - and I use those for *everything*...with chopsticks, naturally. I like to be completely opposite to the Italian family I married into, just because I like to be different! *lol* Good role call, BTW ----------------------------- And I'm flying high, And I'm a wheeling gull... All of our plates and bowls were designed by us, made by him in bright sky blues and indigo. They are all square and have different sizes of indigo squares around the corners. We love, love, love them:)
Guest guest
Hi Gayle, I see you share my love for coffee mugs! My mug is a very important part of the morning when I first get up! It needs to be big enough to hold a good cup of coffee with about half a cup of soymilk added to it, and it needs to have a good bottom on it so it can balance on the sofa cushion while I'm turning the pages of the paper. It also needs to be substanstial enough that I don't worry about breaking it when I set it down on the tile floor by the chair I end up sitting in when my husband gets to the sofa first before me! LOL....!! But, on the other hand, I don't want it so thick that it's uncomfortable to sip out of it. And, of course, I want it to be pretty to look at! Here's a little confession--when we have company visiting, I always get a little proprietary about my few personal favorite coffee cups....and I kind of...well....put them at the back of the shelf so they can't be seen. A few times a visitor has ferreted one out, and inside I was thinking " you can't use that! That's *my* coffee cup! " Outside, I was all smiles! I don't feel this sense of possessiveness about any of my other dishes! Paula On Wed, 3 May 2006 16:26:33 EDT glpveg4life writes: I also love coffee mugs. Guest guest
You guys are too funny. My favorite mugs are my large campbell soup mugs collection. We use them for soup, cereal and hot drinks all the time. They are of a decent size for any of the above. Guest guest
I love mugs. I have cut way down on my coffee consumption but I still love my mugs. I have a mug I bought must be 10 years ago now from the Renaissance Faire that is my favorite. A lot of my mugs are put away as we just don't have the place for them and I am not home that much. I used to think it was fun to give relatives my pregnant cup to drink from. Hope everyone has a fantastic, fabulous Friday. Gayle
Guest guest
What a cool idea, Paul! I always just eat out of the pan to save myself having to do dishes (hmm, lazy much? LOL) but now that you've given me the idea of using the lid, I have twice as many plates as I thought I had!!
