Depends upon the plates. Dinner plates are white with thin blue line around the circumference, if my memory serves correctly (I'm not at home). Some other plates are just white. Some bowls are white with a floral design.

Guest guest
Hi all, My name is Tia and I am a new member. I am a native southern Californian now living in Portland OR...I became a vegetarian (for the most part) about 15 years ago, out of concern for animals. About 5 years ago I became a vegan (except that I do eat cage-free or naturally nested eggs and fish at times). Lets see my dishes are white with wine aqua and gold trim. -------------- Original message -------------- " feralvegetarian_moderators " <feralvegetarian_moderators Time again for our monthly roll call. If I ever own a china plate I will consider myself well-blessed. I belong to the " eat off whatever you can find " crowd. I am poor..... What is it now, with this " monthly roll call " ??? We never had this before. Are we going to be deleted if we don't respond? If so, delete me now, because I am busy writing my thesis. I don't have time for idle chit-chat. If it is going to be one of thes " respond-or-else " groups, I don't want to belong. cheryll , " feralvegetarian_moderators " <feralvegetarian_moderators wrote: > > Time again for our monthly roll call. Guest guest
Oops, this monthly roll call has always been done here since I have been on and I, for one, have enjoyed it keeping me oriented to who is where. I hope that PT keeps it. It has never been a " requirement, " far from it and I don;t think anyone gets kicked off if they don't respond. Sometimes a few respond, sometimes many, but not all of the members and no problem. Those of us that enjoy it respond knowing that it helps keep the lines open and this is a really friendly group. I love the way that PT runs it, open to everyone and all sorts of topics too.I think that you totally misunderstood which is too bad, but this is not new to the list. linda " cheryll " <naturalist_44240 What is it now, with this " monthly roll call " ??? Guest guest
Thanks for this, linda. i am glad you get why we do the roll calls and also that you enjoy them. They are a way for us to keep the spirit of veggie community alive via the internet. i also enjoy seeing where everyone is posting from. This months " just for fun " part wasn't intended to make anyone feel awkward or like they don't have nice enough plates. Mine are antiques that my Grandmother gave me so mine were free! And my Grams was poor, too. She got all of them by saving these stamps the grocery stores used to give out when you'd buy food. Once you spent so much you earned enough stamps for a free plate in the Blue Willow pattern. i always thought that was pretty cool she did that and i USE my plates rather than leaving them sitting in some cabinet in honor of her frugal living. Hand thrown pottery plates, fine china, mish-mashed collections, Corell plates, or no plate at all... they are all good so long as we are eating veggies! ~ pt ~ When we kill animals to eat them, they end up killing us because their flesh, which contains cholesterol and saturated fat, was never intended for human beings. ~William Clifford Roberts, M.D., Editor-in-Chief of The American Journal of Cardiology ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " linda " <lindai81 wrote: > > Oops, this monthly roll call has always been done here since I have been on > and I, for one, have enjoyed it keeping me oriented to who is where. Guest guest
I liked reading that about your Grandmother saving for the plates from the market stickers. Sometimes I just eat out of the frying pan lid. I don't have many dishes but it don't matter, the food is good. Guest guest
Mmmm, just in case I have inadvertently misled you into thinking that I'm wealthy enough to commission my own pottery, perhaps I should also have said that all my hand-thrown pottery comes thanks to my best friend and his wife being potters, so my collection is largely made up of birthday and christmas gifts over the last 20 years, hence the fact that it is an assortment rather than a set, but loved all the more! My plates are hand-me-down, cheap plastic, white things with faded floral designs and now thoroughly stained from the days before my water softener. But, I'm mainly a bowl person (as many others on this list). I use a couple 1- quart glass ones I picked up from the grocery store for $3/piece. One is now also stained from making egg dishes in the oven (straight from the oven to the living room!). I also bought one for work, so I don't have to nuke in plastic containers. My plates mainly serve as chopping boards, these days.
Guest guest
HI All: I love seeing where everyone is from. I'm Gayle I live in Connecticut its a 45 minute train ride to Grand Central Currently our dishes are mainly ones that my husband and daughter have painted at those hand painted pottery places. We have had them for several years and will probably need new ones soon as we have broken some of them. I also love coffee mugs. Before I was married both my older sister and I were told we couldn't have anymore coffee mugs. Sorry for the rambling. gayle

What color are your plates ~ china pattern? i have a mish-mash of plates and bowls and few match. i have a thing for bowls too. i just picked up some small cobalt blue bowls for a quarter apiece at a yard sale this weekend. i did inherit my great-grandmother's beautiful wedgewood china that i admired as a child. it has a flowery pattern in lavender, greens and grays. i have no place in my kitchen for it or i would use it regularly. instead it's in a box in my closet, except for a coffee cup and saucer, which i use almost daily.
