To support our detailed lobbying work, we are now excited to announce the launch of our Europe-wide campaign, Make Animal Testing History in partnership with Four Paws and the Humane Society International.Animal research industry lobbying to block welfare-friendly proposals has been intense. So far MEPs have failed to vote in favour of wholly reasonable measures such as limiting the level of pain animals can endure or the number of times they can be re-used in experiments. Even proposals for a time-tabled phase-out of experiments on non-human primates, allowing for the phase-in of non-animal replacement techniques, have thus far been rejected. It has been deeply disappointing to see how easily many MEPs have given in to pressure. Despite recent opinion polls clearly showing that EU citizens oppose animal suffering for testing and research, many MEPs have shown little interest in the views of their constituents. Join our virtual march! It is time for MEPs and other decision-makers to listen to the public.
