Episode 3 Synopsis:

Lost

The wet season has arrived, and floods transform the island

confronting the young community with dangers never experienced at the

Rescue Center. How will the naïve orphans react? While Saturnus

entertains himself with a makeshift toy by the river's edge, the

forest-wise Oyoy knows this isn't a place to linger as flood waters

rise and crocodiles lurk. The Teknisi, a group of men caring for the

orangutans at the Center, discover that Mogok is missing, prompting a

search of the entire island. Since orangutans can't swim, this could

either mean he is learning to live independently or he is in serious

trouble. At the same time, we meet one-eyed Chen Chen, whose

dominance is immediately challenged by the return of Hamlet, the

threatening, older orangutan from a neighboring island.

As Project Manager, Lone Droscher Nielsen joins the search for Mogok,

they discover that Oyoy also is missing. Has a dark cloud been cast

over Orangutan Island?

Meet the Orangutans:

Saturnus:

Saturnus was one of the infamous Bandit Boys back in forest school and

always kept Lone entertained with his cheeky antics. She knew his

rebellious nature would serve him well in a more wild setting. The

night before Saturnus was to be moved to the island, Lone thought it

best to move him to a holding cage to keep him out of trouble. But as

per usual, Saturnus' mischievous nature shone through and he slipped

out of his cage to go and catch up with his buddies.

When Saturnus arrived on Orangutan Island he acted as though he was in

heaven. So much space and so many females sent him into a frenzy of

flirtation and creative attention-seeking. Jasmine was the first

object of his affection and he tried everything from cabbage hats to

commando rolls to get her attention. But just as he was getting

somewhere with his antics, Hamlet invaded and stole his girl.

Saturnus has cultivated a language all his own and has a knack for

turning difficult situations into play-time.

Stats and Quirks:

Character: Mischievous, cheeky and charismatic

Alias: The Clown

Sex: Male

Age: 5

ID Tips: Smallest male; very pronounced tuft of hair on forehead;

compact body with very rotund belly

Quirk/Dysfunction: Makes a strange bark-growl to get attention and

really dislikes being left alone.

Chen Chen:

At Nyaru Menteng Rescue and Rehabilitation Center Chen Chen was like

any other baby orangutan; playful, curious and always up for a

wrestle. Tragically, during a playful scrap, Chen Chen pierced his

left eye with a stick. His eye was so severely damaged veterinarians

had no choice but to remove it completely. From then on Chen Chen

became known as " The Pirate, " both because of his looks and a new,

very changeable, personality. Through the ordeal Chen Chen became good

friends with a younger smaller male called Donald... Donald seemed to

be the only one willing to put up with his mood swings.

Chen Chen has found himself in a new role on the island. He is one of

the oldest, largest males making him top dog in the line up for

dominance over the young community and he has no trouble throwing his

weight around - especially when food and females are concerned. But

Chen Chen's status is fragile; when he is challenged in a dramatic

face-off with the aggressive intruder Hamlet, he comes off second

best. But long-time friend Donald is still his loyal supporter and

benefits from the tender and playful side of the island bully.

He is very curious and enjoys exploring the island having encounters

with interesting creatures including a cicada and a python.

Stats and Quirks:

Character: Dominant, moody and curious

Alias: The Pirate

Sex: Male

Age: 8

ID Tips: The only one with one eye; also has hairless patches on back

Quirk/Dysfunction: Mood swings
