Looking for waffle recipe please...the beans are COOKED in the waffle iron -

HI guys -

 

Thanks for the questions.

 

Yes, we have made these waffles many times with both soy beans and

pinto beans. Remember, although this recipe calls for grinding the

beans while they are still raw, it does not call for eating the

resulting batter raw. The beans - in the form of the flour they

create when ground - are then cooked in the waffle iron. Therefore,

no one is consuming raw beans. People who follow gluten free diets

have been using flours created with beans for years and years.

Remember, they cook with the flour - not eat it raw. Secondly, I am

not 100% sure of the accuracy of the information regarding the

toxicity of raw beans. The FDA has had on their website for years

that beans must be combined with grains to create a complete protein -

and this myth was discredited years ago - yet the FDA continue to

post it. Also, there has never been a reported case of toxicity due

to raw kidney beans in the US - according to another site. If

concerned - don't use red kidney beans in the recipe.

 

I hope this helps calm everyones fears.

 

Also, you could easily skip the oil or substitute applesauce or even

a little more water.
