MARIN, NORTH BAY, SONOMA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN STANDBY FOR POSSIBLE EVACUATION & CARE OF 200 COMPANION ANIMALS*** STATUS: STANDBY AS OF: 6/28/08 – 9:45PM PST IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE CONTACT Lynne Tingle Milo Foundation Milo Marin: 415-454-MILO Cell: 510-847-7415 lat Hello all, We are really being hit from every direction it seems - the phrase out of the frying pan and into the fire is definitely coming to mind! Our sanctuary - east of Willits in Mendocino County has a wildfire approaching that is only 5% contained. We have ~200 animals there. The area shelters and rescue sites are already filling due to the amount of displaced livestock and pets - so we need to appeal to our friends, volunteers and foster homes in the Bay Area to help! I believe we have housing opportunities for our dogs in Sonoma and surrounding areas - and can house our cats or many of them at least at our facility in Marin - though we will need to ask for volunteers to help care for the dogs - and the cats! Transport -- if you have a big vehicle and can handle animals, we need you! Animal Care -- we have several locations where the animals can go in Santa Rosa and San Rafael -- we will need volunteers able to assist with care and feeding. Foster Care -- we are looking for foster homes for the animals. If you can help, please contact Lynne at lat Let's hope it doesn't come to this - I will have an update at 8PM. We will need a few good folks with large vehicles to drive if possible - we do have offers from some organizations with vans, a winery with a 16' animal trailer and others willing to help - able bodies that can handle large dogs, good sized trucks and vans equipped with crates and ready to roll north towards the Milo Sanctuary could be urgently needed in the next 24-48 hours! Thanks, please let me know if you can help. And if you can house a dog or a few adult cats - we'll keep a list. And volunteers in Marin and north bay to Sonoma who can help - please let me know! Thanks again very, very much, Lynne -- Lynne Tingle/Founder The Milo Foundation Milo Marin: 415-454-MILO Cell: 510-847-7415 lat www.milofoundation.org www.milosanctuary.org This message forwarded by -- Kate Danaher http://www.AnimalEarthHuman.org Helping Humans See Animals in Society San Rafael, CA 94901 USA 415.459.4109 landline 415.847.9748 mobile katedanaher " The moral arc of the universe bends at the elbow of justice.
