Hello folks,I just joined this group. My name is Breeze Harper and I will be moving to the bay area next month. I have a book coming out soon about black female vegans; their perceptions of veganism and how it's integrated into social justice work, womanism, health practices, understanding of institutionalized racism, decolonizing our diets., etc. It's called Sistah Vegan! Food, Identity, Health and Society: Female Vegans of the African Diaspora. Thanks Breeze, it sounds fascinating, and I've often wondered about

that perspective. I signed up for notification.

 

I've been working to promote veganism and animal rights awareness to

the gay community - so I'm often considering the perspective of a

marginalized group, even though the issues may be different. I often

feel further marginalized as a gay vegan, especially with groups often

resistant to veganism such as the " leather " and " bear " subcultures,

bodybuilders and people with HIV (who usually believe they need animal

protein).
