"sailinfree" <sailinfreePlease send your comments into the local newspaper's online storychat!Sun, 19 Aug 2007 09:17:17 -0400 A Fremont, Ohio man (Mr. David Pickard) recently shot his neighbor's cat and threw it into the marsh, telling the reporting deputy that, "It's turtle food now." The cat belonged to Pam Johnson, who heard the shot, ran outside, and fell apart when she saw her cat flailing around on the ground. She ran inside, called the sheriff's office, and when she came back out, her cat's body was gone. She couldn't even receive the cats body, because Mr. Pickard decided to feed the turtles with the cat's freshly killed body. I sent a detailed letter to our City Prosecutor, Bob Hart, asking him to urge the judge to impose the maximum sentence. During court (I attended the sentencing) the judge asked Prosecutor Hart for his recommendation on the sentence, and Prosecutor Hart said that he had no comment. The judge charged this man a mere $100 find plus costs. The maximum sentence for killing a companion animal in Ohio is 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine for the first offense. I formed SPA several years ago when a man named Mr. Ken Dumminger baited, trapped, shot and killed a cat in his yard. At that time, Prosecutor Bob Hart let Mr. Dumminger off with a warning, stating that if he kept a clean record for 6 months, the incident would be entirely wiped off of the court's records. He wasn't even charged with discharging a firearm in city limits. That was eight years ago. Dumminger is a photographer here in Fremont. He is obviously one of the "good ole' boys," His email address is photopro. DON'T EMAIL HIM DIRECTLY! But read on and remember the name photopro. It is my understanding that Mr. Dumminger is still shooting cats in his neighborhood, according to his neighbors. I know of two people who have recently spent over $1,000 at their vet's office removing bullets from their cats and trying to keep them alive. They live within a block or two of Dumminger. No one can prove it is he, but everyone seems to "know." Read on, and you will have a clearer understanding. Please don't email Dumminger directly. READ ON AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHY! The article about Mr. Pickard, who recently shot his neighbor's cat, can be read at www.thenews-messenger.com. It was printed in Saturday's News-Messenger. I am hoping that you will take a moment of your time post a comment on The News-Messengers web site at the bottom of the article after reading it. A man who signed himself in as PHOTOPRO (gee, I wonder who that person could be? One can only imagine...) had this to say on his most recent post: photoproJoined: 07 Jun 2007Posts: 4Location: Unknown Posted: Sat Aug 18, 2007 10:14 pm Post subject: Cat Killing.... What torture took place? The cat instantly died. Believe me the travisty of justice when a man gets fined for killing a cat humanly and the owner who let the cat run around sits and gloats. My sympathy goes to the man who took care of a continuing problem in the community. Hundreds of people not being responsible for their cats. Where are the leash laws for cats? We have to have our dog on a leash anytime she is outside of our property. However, cat lovers can let their cats loose all the time so that they can piss and stuff in yards of neighbors. Trust me it doesn't happen in my yard anymore. However, the SPA people will never find out where my cats go. Until someone with enough balls decides to elect people who will address this issue Ms McGrady can take all her petitiions and fly up a tree. I know when they cannot get their way locally, they run down to Columbus and piss a bunny to our representitives. I now how my legislators voted on this issue. I for one won't vote for anyone who supports this stupid law. PLEASE LET THE PEOPLE OF FREMONT KNOW THAT THERE ARE COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO DO NOT AGREE THAT IT IS OK TO SHOOT STRAY CATS WHO WANDER INTO YOUR YARD!
