Hi folks!!

Animal Place is a wonderful sanctuary for rescued animals. Please see below for more info on their opening.

Bay Area Vegetarians had a great field trip to visit last year, and we're planning another one later this Spring. If you want to get more involved, they have regular volunteer openings and tours, classes, etc.

Cheers,

Tammy

"This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

I highly recommend visiting Animal Place and/or volunteering. It is such an incredible experience being face-to-face with animals you normally would not interact with. I have to admit, Howie, the cow is my favorite. He loves to be petted and nudges you if you stop (kinda like my cats) :) But all the animals there are so incredible: the cows, goats, pigs, pot-belly pigs, chickens, turkeys, bunnies, dogs (hope I didn't forget anyone). Check them out at: http://www.animalplace.org/ I think anyone who goes to Animal Place will think twice before eating animals/animal products. So, bring your omnivore friends for a tour. Kim, Varina, Marji and the rest of the staff there are incredible and so dedicated and hard-working. I LOVE volunteering there so much that tomorrow in fact, I (and a fellow BAV'er) will be getting up at the crack of

dawn and driving the 88 miles to be at Animal Place by 9AM. And I am so NOT a morning person. But once I'm there it is so well worth it. It's a great experience. Volunteering includes such things as bunny and chicken health checks, and manual labor. They have volunteer orientations throughout the year.
