Hi all! Just wanted to introduce (or remind!) everyone on this list to

a unique and fantastic nonprofit that's located right in our backyard

.... House Rabbit Society (HRS). HRS is a national organization

headquartered in Richmond, CA. Our mission is twofold: to educate the

public about these often-misunderstood companion animals, and to help

rescue and " re-home " domestic rabbits.

We have chapters across the U.S., including San Francisco-Marin and

South Bay chapters. Information about these chapters can be found at

our website, www.rabbit.org. At our Richmond Rabbit Center, we have

about 45 rabbits who are ready to be adopted out to good homes, and we

host a variety of classes and community events throughout the year.

This month, we have partnered with the ASPCA to promote Adopt A Rescued

Rabbit Month, and if you're interested in checking out the Rabbit Center

and meeting some very lovable, friendly rabbits, now is the time. On

Saturday, February 28, we will be hosting a free open house, featuring

vegan and vegetarian food, adoption counseling, and even a rabbit-themed

art show featuring Bay Area artists and HRS volunteers! Please feel

welcome to stop by the Rabbit Center at 148 Broadway in Richmond any

time between 12:00 and 4:00.

HRS is also a wonderful place to volunteer. Volunteers are the backbone

of our organization, and we need help from everything from events to

cleaning bunny habitats to phones to giving the fuzzy little vegan

bunnies their evening greens. If you are interested in volunteering,

adopting a bunny, or in finding out more about HRS, you can contact me

at hq or 510.970.7575. And please don't forget that our

other local chapters need help too ... you can also check them out at

www.rabbit.org.

Thanks so much!

Erin
