Guest guest
Dear veg friends, Please read the alert from VIVA that I just posted. We have been supporters of VIVA, based in Davis, since we saw the undercover videotape of lauren's investigation into pig factory farming. We were stunned and saddened by the videotape footage; the treatment of the pigs was awful -- a far cry from the happy, safe, and clean environment of animal sanctuaries. Since then, we have been supporters of VIVA and also used their literature for our outreach. As you read in the alert, VIVA needs our help to secure their future and continue with the vital work that they undertake for the animals. We are writing to personally ask you to join us in supporting VIVA. We think it is absolutely critical that we support them at this critical juncture; we *need* effective animal rights organizations like Viva! Let's face it, if we don't support VIVA and the animals, who will? Not the NRA, not the Dairy Council, nor any of the other groups that profit from exploiting animals. To encourage your support of VIVA, we (Tammy and Chris) will match all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $500. We can easily raise $1,000 for VIVA! AND, Regina and Nicole have also pledged to match the next $500 in donations, resulting in another $1000!! A dollar or two for VIVA is a great investment for the animals, for the environment, for a veg-friendly Bay Area!! Send any donations that you want matched to us directly. We will total them, and match all donations -- dollar for dollar -- up to $1,000 -- received by Dec. 15th, midnight PST. This will also make it easier on VIVA, too. Details: 1) Please make checks/money orders payable to VIVA, or well-wrapped cash. 2) Our mailing address: Chris James, P.O. Box 371215, Montara, CA 94037 3) If you want to donate by credit card, please use VIVA's website: http://www.vivausa.org/donate/index.html and email us with your donation amount for the match. 4) Please include your name and address (email or USPS) if you would like to join VIVA's their mailing list. We will not collect or use this information in any other way, except to send it to VIVA. 5) Deadline for donation match is Dec. 15th, 2003 midnight PST 6) VIVA is a registered non-profit; all donations are tax deductible Other notes: 1) You can join VIVA's email list (general) by sending an email to: list or if you are a student, send an e-mail to ACT 2) You can read more about VIVA at http://www.vivausa.org or contact them at info 3) VIVA also needs a laptop (PC) in good working condition! 4) VIVA accepts donations year-round! We know the economy is awful for many folks, but conditions are even worse on the factory farms. So, please, even if it is just a dollar or two, it all counts. If everyone just contributed at least a dollar, we can easily raise at least $2000 for VIVA! Thank you, Tammy & Chris Get the veg vote out!! Guest guest
Hi folks, Nora, you're right, we've got a great community! So far we've raised almost $600 for VIVA since we first launched our fundraising campaign !! http://www.bayareaveg.org/viva_match.htm Since some have asked, we can accept PayPal if it is from an existing PayPal balance or bank account - that way 100% of your money will go to VIVA. For those of you who have a credit card VIVA can accept donations that way thru their website (www.vivausa.org), but make sure to write us so that we can match your donation. If you missed the original messages with the update from VIVA or the details on our dollar-for-dollar matching fundraiser for VIVA, please see the following messages in the archives - /message/6023 /message/6024 All donations, in any amount (even a single $ - I'm serious), are greatly appreciated. Thanks for joining us in supporting VIVA!
