Hi Roger, After reading that fruits were eliminated on the

Macrobiotic Diet I was curious if perhaps there were vegetables that

offered the same nutrients as fruits, However, I will definitly

continue to eat fruit, though I will choose low glycemic fruits in

the beginning until my sysem becomes more balanced. :) In my current

condition I have noticed that certain fruits do in fact make me feel

as if I've eaten a candy bar...sluggish and somewhat buzzed. One

thing I'm learning is that if you really listen to your body it tells

you what you need whether you understand the reasoning behind it or

not. I agree with you completely concerning nature. It's amazing how

we can spend so much on technology and don't understand simple things

pertaining to our health and nature. I was truly ignorant for 35

years and didn't have a clue how important nutrition was on a

cellular level or how food could effect the emotions and mental state

of an individual. What exactly does natural hygiene teach? The term

sounds familar but I'm not sure. Lili

Hi Lili,

I reply in the body of your message below.

Hi Roger, After reading that fruits were eliminated on the

Macrobiotic Diet I was curious if perhaps there were vegetables that

offered the same nutrients as fruits,

[RH]

Our number one nutrient need is carbohydrates and no leafy vegetables or

easy to digest vegetables can supply us with enough of our number one

nutrient need. We would starve to death on a diet based on raw

vegetables alone.

However, I will definitly

continue to eat fruit, though I will choose low glycemic fruits in

the beginning until my sysem becomes more balanced.

[RH]

Almost all fruits are low Glycemic index. You can't base everything on

the Glycemic index. What is more important is the fiber in the foods.

All whole fruits have the fiber and nutrients to help slow down the

absorption of sugars. Stay away from dried fruit though.

:) In my current

condition I have noticed that certain fruits do in fact make me feel

as if I've eaten a candy bar...sluggish and somewhat buzzed.

[RH]

It may not be the fruit that is the cause. You are almost certainly

eating too much in the way of fat. I used to have problems with fruit as

well but once my body got used to eating fruit it wasn't a problem. It

can often be the initial transition period that causes the problem. It

takes the body time to adjust to absorbing nutrients from a different

diet, even if it is our ideal diet. Just as if you've been fasting, you

can't eat a lot of food because the body is not used to eating food

anymore. It has a transition period.

One

thing I'm learning is that if you really listen to your body it tells

you what you need whether you understand the reasoning behind it or

not.

[RH]

Yes it is important to listen to your body. Also be aware that you can

misinterpret what your body is telling you.

As the saying goes...variety is the spice of life...thank goodness we

have so many fruits and vegetables to choose from.

Hmm, very important point. I guess when I ate the apple after my fast

it would have helped greatly to leave the skin on. Duh. Yep...I cut

off the peel and then at the apple....*sigh*

Ahh...you know...I didn't think of that. I presumed that since my

system was so inbalanced my cells and body would immediately respond

to balanced nutrition and favor the healthy transition. Very

interesting.

I will keep that in mind. I certainly had not considered the previous

points you made....so I agree it is very possible for me to listen to

my body and misinterpret.

Thank you for recommending these websites Roger I will definitely

save and visit them today. Most importantly thank you for being so

patient. I like the tone of your messages. You correct and advise

with care which avoids making me feel like an idiot.(which I'm sure

takes great skill...lol) You also point out very simple facts which

help me to put the entire puzzle together. Your time and patient as

well as that of everyone here who helps me is greatly appreciated. :)
