Guest guest
Just for the record, I understood this as warm encouragement, not a command, and it hasn't caused me to tip into a negative mind state yet, although it is apparently guaranteed to have this kind of control over me. Guest guest
I guess when I fail from my committment to raw and health, my positive attitude allows me to get back on track very quickly. I don't associate being negative with eating off my diet. It's just temporary weakness. I'm glad you didn't take that comment with such extreme Dani. Guest guest
Dear Regina, You say you are a failure and weak when you don't eat raw. The facts are that six thousand million people don't eat raw. Are they weak failures? Your commitment to raw is religious in that you see yourself as a backslider when you don't eat raw. Why do you need another religion? Victor.
Guest guest
Dear Doug, I am very glad you are back and I missed you and wondered where you were. And of course you are right about us being raw food junkies. The essence of being a junkie is the narrowing of attention to raw food and the repetition of eating raw then backsliding. We are profoundly narrow and impoverished and my tricks, as you point out, consist of seeking to enrich the discussion with new ideas, dissent and humour. When you have lost your sense of humour, you know you are in a raw trance. Welcome back, Victor. > Victor; I'M BACK. Did you miss me? I had computer problems and have > been unable to post. Guest guest
Imagine Dani, if you could tip yourself into a negative state then, as you wished, you could tip yourself back into a positive state. Depression would then hold no fears, nor would happiness. It would be as natural as sleeping and waking, working and resting, belief and scepticism. Guest guest
Victor, For me to go off my diet (of which I don't eat 100% raw, but maybe 90%) is failure because it causes me to become ill. Failure and weaknesses only make humans learn more and become stronger. What's wrong with that? You are an odd duck! Guest guest
Dear Regina, It's true: I am an odd duck. But how am I an odd duck? On the Bell Curve of Response to Stimulae, I am right up one end. I am a High Responder. High rsponse to stimulae, both internal and external, is one characteristic held by the gifted. So how can you make use of gifted people? In exactly the same way you make use of normal people. Both normal and gifted people are ends in themselves; to use them is to misuse them. So don't use any people at all. Including yourself. Victor.

Guest guest
If I may butt in here, when I back slide a little, it is always because I am eating incorrectly. We need to eat an equal amount (by dry weight) of three food groups; Sweet fruits, fatty fruits, and green leafy vegetables. If we get this mix to far out of balance, we will have cravings beyond our control. If you carve sweets; you need more sweet fruits. If you crave protein; you need more raw fats. Green leafys are your meat and potatoes. They are what give your meals substance. If you crave salty crunchy things, like chips etc. you need more minerals in your diet ie, seaweed, kelp, etc. or any green leafy higher in minerals. Once you get the mix right you will never crave crap again. Living foods become easy. Lets not call this diet perfect, lets call it incredible food for incredible people. Mark; our closest relative is the chimpanzee, but not the common chimpanzee that eats monkeys. By the way, only 2% of their diet is protein and this includes insects, worms, and what ever they can find. Most of this is eaten during times of famine. Our closest relative is the Banobo also called Pygmy chimpanzee this has recently been discovered to be a separate species, and does not eat meat. Getting the two mixed up is a common mistake. Guest guest
That's what I eat and it leaves me with no desire at all for cookeed food. Guest guest
Agreed. When I have salt cravings, I add some kelp and dulse to my salads and the craving is satisfied. It can make me swell a bit though(My minerals aren't balanced yet). When I crave sweet, I have a couple figs and I'm good. I try to spread this information to friends at work. They love to gorge on donuts and chocolate. One friend is gradually weaning to more raw and she feels like a million dollars. She's learning so much about her body. If people would only listen to their bodies they would be much better off. Guest guest
I was watching a nature program about moose (plural, mooses, meese, I give up) anyway, there was a scene where they were standing chest deep in icy cold water, with their young, literally shaking from the cold. They would put their heads under the water to eat an aquatic plant that was growing on the bottom. The announcer said that the aquatic plant contained 400% more salt than anything that grew on the land. I realized that salt does not occur alone in nature, but with a myriad of other minerals. The salt is the only mineral we can taste, so it is the desire for salt that leads us to other minerals, so we are soon satisfied. If we eat table salt it does not satisfy us, we continually want more. ---Doug
