On the instructions of Inspector General of Police Chandra Fernando a special Team has been deployed along with CID and wild life officers to find whether there are more carcasses of elephants killed by a group which had been sent by the politician to clear the road up to St Anthony`s church ,Known as Kela palliya )at Pallekanda Pomparippu.The mother elephant (aged 20) and two calves of around 6 and 8 months were found earlier,while the body of another she elepehant between 8and 12 years of age was found 15 metres away later .Wilpattu wild life officals said the elephants had died out of gunshot injuries received roughly 10 days ago and added they are looking out for more elephants killed or wounded. sent by Kala Santha Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
