Guest guest Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 HAIKOU China Daily http://www1.chinadaily.com.cn/cndy/2003-03-03/106440.html A captive turtle estimated to be over 500 years old has been released back into the sea by an elderly man in South China's Hainan Province. Ye Fangrong, a 63-year-old retired official from a branch of the Agricultural Bank of China in the Danzhou City, learned that a fisherman had captured a large turtle near his hometown of Paipu, so he went and bought the turtle for 590 yuan (US$71). The turtle is about 68 centimetres long and 42 centimetres wide and has 13 large shells on its back. Quote
