Guest guest Report post Posted April 12, 2007 I found a book a year ago on cleaning the home without using chemicals. I can't think of the name or find it. It walked away again. ;-) Anyway, we used to have a huge ant problem in our kitchen until last summer. We made sure the kids actually put their trash in the trash cans. Then I started cleaning with a mixture of vinegar and peppermint essential oil. The ants don't like the peppermint and vinegar. So we haven't had a problem until recently (I've been too sick to clean the kitchen). -- Renee W. reneewo I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Guest guest Report post Posted April 12, 2007 Penny royal is safe for kitty and is another strong smell ants don't like. You can also place a line of ash around the foundation of your home as the ash cuts the carapace so ants won't cross it. BL

My oldest daughter trained her husband who was raised an omnivore to be vegan at home. I was a member of a great vegan group (NJ vegan families) but we live in rural NY now. I love to cook vegan dishes for our friends that are omnivores and they love my foods. The biggest hit is Tofu riccotta and seitan pepperoni. I have earned my BS in Holistic Nutrition through Clayton College and I am working on my masters. I love to do vegan seminars (which I have only done1 so far with a prospect of another) We have farm animals as pets and we are homeschoolers since 1992. She noticed that most other people eat meat (we don't seem to have many vegetarian friends) and we talked about that and I told her that I don't but that she could if she wanted. I was secretly thrilled that she said she felt it was wrong to eat animals and that she wanted to be vegetarian like me! > > Looking forward to being part of this group and hope to learn a lot! > > Kind wishes, > > Jenny. >
Guest guest Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Hello, my name is Kathy. I became Vegan on January 4, 2010, after reading the book, 'Skinny Bitch' and watching the documentary 'Food, Inc.'. I wasn't a vegetarian prior to becoming Vegan. My family is not vegetarian or Vegan and have no plans of becoming vegetarian or Vegan. I also live in a small, rural, farming, fishing & hunting community. I have to drive 90 minutes round-trip to buy my groceries at 'Whole Foods'. So, I am looking for some Vegan friends & guides. ) I am 49 years old, married, have 2 children, 7 critter-kids and love arts & crafts. With Lovingkindness, Kathy =^..^= " Compassion is the radicalism of our time. " - Dalai Lama
