Is celery supposed to be so bitter?

My celery tastes very bitter and I'm not sure if it's supposed to

taste that way. Mum says it tastes fine to her, but I dunno...

I washed it in plain water in case there were pesticides on it, but

it still tastes funny. Any ideas?

What tastes bitter to you may not taste bitter to

someone else and visa versa. I think your mum's right.

Kayleen, I have been using celery daily for years and celery crops

definitely have different tastes. Once every year or so a batch of

celery hits the organic markets where we live and they are so bitter

that I can't eat it. Maybe you have a bitter batch?

Suzanne, I wonder if organic celery tastes different than non-org?

I'm so hooked on the flavor that I juice it. Wish I knew what you

were experiencing. Does it always taste awful to you? Also, I wash

produce in bath of distilled water and hydrogren peroxide.

Dry Soil, insufficient moisture and excessive sun exposure can cause bitterness (?) in celery according to Gail Delaney's post.
