some people may be vegan cuz of religious reasons. some my be vegan for

purely ethical reasons. i could rationalize eating my mom with the

bible(extreme example, i know), give me time and i could. it's vague and

contradictory.

but the realm of jesus is elsewhere.

I'm vegan because I believe in animal rights and animal liberation:

more specifically that animals are not ours for any reason: not

to eat, hunt, entertain, wear or as pets. It is wrong to use animals

for profit (breeding, or whatever). Companion animals is a fine

line. When you consider an animal as property, it becomes your

slave and is an abusive relationship. Animal rescue and offering

animals a home as an alternative to death or abuse is another

situation that must be held accountable to the principles of

animal rights and liberation.

 

I am not religious. I do not believe in any dogma. I uphold

no creed.

 

I am a soul on my path to unity. Unity implies veganism to

my mind. Unity implies all souls are one. I am bound by the

ideal of minimal impact to the environment in all things.

To facilitate minimal impact, I am bound to express my

displeasure with self-serving greed.

 

I believe this is the way of all " high souls " whether Jesus,

Buddha, Zoroaster, Abraham, Melchizedek, Ghandi, Einstein, Plato,

Hermes, or whomever... Those who cannot follow these principles

on their own adopt the lessor and more perverse religions,

IMO.

I was in a class tonight, that really bothered me, because someone who

shared, shared that for spiritual reasons, (I won't go into religions) he

felt great about rituals around meat eating, and how this method of

slaughter was not bad, etc.

 

UGH!! I was infuriated. So, rationalize eating meat. Do all these things

before and after eating, prepare a special way, pray, chant, whatever!!!

YOu are still eating a carcass of a spirit that was killed.

The person who shared then went into which animals were ok to eat, and which

ones werent....who made this up??? IT IS INSANE.

 

One breed of animal has a right to a life more than another?

 

The rationale of some people really gets to me. They don't get it.

Whatever " it " is, I don't know, a heart?

I am so glad I got " it " , and being a lifetime animal lover, I always

disliked any animal products. Kind of weird. I somehow knew, even at a

really young age, where it came from...

 

So, spirit is a topic that may always come up. Religion is controversial,

something to argue about, but when a non vegan rationalizes his meat eating

for ANY reason-be it God, the person's phony nutritional expertise, they may

say " everyone does it " making me out to be a fanatical extremist, etc. it

really reminds me of the shortage of conscious people around, and I am more

thankful for groups like these.

I always review my day and my thoughts. Even my own thoughts

bother me. I don't think I dewll on my own " missing the mark. "

Just enough to shift to a more comfortable level. Is this

rationalization? Probably. We all do it to some extent.

 

If someone is rationalizing eating meat, it is perhaps done

because the soul knows it is wrong (so the biocomputer makes

some excuse).

 

If my goal is unity, then to some extent my rationalizations of

levels of evolution are to some extent an attempt to excuse myself

and others.

 

So in my attempt to excuse others of their actions I recognize that

we are as souls in different uniforms playing the game of life

from a variety of points of view. The meat eater is just another

soul in drag, so to speak. Who is the lesson for? What is the

lesson?

 

The lesson is probably for everyone that hears it. Not one lesson.

The lessons are multideminsional just like us. Like an onion, the

lesson has many layers and one or more may speak to you.

 

Perhaps the lesson is not to be angry.

 

As souls, we tend to put too much emphasis on the biocomputer form:

human, primate, dog, cat, horse, elephant... All are different

brands and models of the biocomputer. Perhaps we vegans tend to

focus too much upon the cloth and too little on spirit. That's

not to say that veganism is wrong. I believe it to be a correct

approach to living in unity. But how we act it out is an indication

of how well we understand it in the context of the whole.

 

Just as the body and form is cover for the soul, religion is

a brand of cover for spirit. Some need cover. Some do not.

 

The bottom line is love. The way we express love in unity is our

compassion for all. Do we protest the fox who eats the rabbit?

No. The fox has no vegan grocery store to visit. So why should

we protest our human brother's perspective with our anger. Love

says we should so it with compassion. This is what we need to

learn to express...at least I do need to learn how...

 

So, too, should we express compassion to all our friends,

including PETA.
