Hi,

Does anyone have an idea how to make french toast in the crockpot?

Would love it if there was a way!

Since french toast is a fried, crispy item I doubt it can be made in a slow

cooker.

If you google, you'll find lots of recipes for baked french toast

(casseroles).

I would think these could be adapted to the crockpot, although there

might be a problem with sticking or scorching.

 

However, nearly all of those contain eggs, some contain cream cheese,

and most contain milk, making them decidedly non-vegan (this is a

vegan e-group, although I think some members aren't strictly vegan.)

I found an absolutely delicious recipe for baked french toast that I

converted to vegan by subst vegan cream cheese for the non-vegan

cream cheese. I think that was the only subst that I had to make.

It is baked over bananas though so I don't think it would be a good

crock pot recipe.

And in her book, Vegan With A Vengeance, Isa Chandra Moskowitz has a recipe

called Fronch Toast:

but it has to be fried to get brown and crispy, something no slow-cooker can

do.
