Guest guest Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Dear Friends, Just a quick reminder that the Food & Social Justice Project is hosting a fun, celebratory, educational, gastronomic event tomorrow afternoon. From 12 noon - 2 pm, we will be assembled at Market & Powell in San Francisco (adjacent to the Powell Street BART station), where we will be: * distributing literature (on the many motivations for going vegan); * screening factory farming video footage; * offering passersby yummy samples of vegan food; * cheering people for considering a vegan diet; * holding placards, reminding people that certain food choices involve cruelty and violence. As with all of our events, the idea is to approach people positively about going vegan. Everyone is welcome to join us in this effort. This event is being in conjunction with Viva!USA, which has designated July 13th as a day to Act Against Factory Farming. While we oppose factory farming, we support positive lifestyle changes that promote health, environmentalism, and compassion for animals. Following the event at Market & Powell, we will be walking over to Golden Era restaurant at O'Farrell & Leavenworth, for a late lunch. Again, all are welcome to join! In lieu of the work that is being done for Saturday's event, we are canceling tonight's Vegan Video Brigade, but will resume the brigade *next* Friday, July 19th. Hope to see many people at the events!! Best regards, Alka Quote
