I don't know what a mirapois is, but thank you so very much!! I am

smelling this " soup " and wondering if it's going to be a wash...

LOL! Funny stuff! (about selling the hubby & kids) I have often thought of

taking my dd's (Angie) advice and just running away! I have to cook every single

freaking day for my hubby! Meat... horrible sweets...disgusting side dishes.

These are all foods that I used to not only eat, but dearly loved. The longer I

stay raw though, the easier it gets to resist temptation. Yesterday I cooked

stuffed peppers...in the middle of my healing crisis! With a pounding headache.

Does he appreciate it? Probably not. Here he is, eating stuffed peppers, mashed

potatos and gravy (from a box!) and canned corn and I'm sipping on lemon water!!

I think the thing that helps me to resist the most, is looking at him and seeing

how " unhealthy " he is. I do not want that. My goal is to be radiantly healthy

and free of all disease and illness. I have actually " apologized " to him for

" poisoning " him with this food, but he just rolls his eyes and says, " I wouldn't

let you feed me healthy " . What a lunatic! Just keep your goal in mind and keep

trying the best you can!

What you might like to do is to plant all of your own food. You can use a shovel

to make a small garden, you don't need a tractor. Use grass clippings when you

cut your grass for fertizler. Plant plenty of fruit trees in your yard. It

really is a great joy to watch plants growing in your own garden. You don't

get sticker shock when you pick your own food from your garden.

Homegrown food is a great way to go but I found that very

One way that will help you get into this is to keep reading and don't

be afraid to ask questions. Personally I have found Dr Doug Graham's

books, articles and FAQ's of great help. www.doctorgraham.cc

As to affording this lifestyle, I understand what you mean, but with

a little effort it can work out a lot cheaper than you first think.

Get to know your local grocers, gardeners and growers. If you eat

what is in season you will be getting best quality at lowest prices.

And of course you can grow some of your own, which I hope you can.

Arthritis can easily be fixed by using the water cure. Read this article if you

and here, I will say... I LOVE gardening too. I grow all of my own veggies

and organic fruits on the property. It brings me joy, it brings my husband joy

.. and joy is biochemically healing.

 

 

Is it insensitive to offer up those things that " we " love; things that have

brought us joy or healing. Is it insensitive to offer them to someone who is

suffering. Is this not a pure gift, one human to another?? ... is this not

innocent??... is this not a form of love... ??....

Doesn't matter if we give the " right advice " ...its the reaching out that

Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints, because the body stores

in those spots the toxic uric acid that accumulates as a result of

eating animal carcasses and other animal products. So going vegan

will probably in itself end the arthritis.

 

Eating raw foods need not be expensive. Farmers markets are good

places to find quality fresh produce, and prices can be negotiable,

especially if one is buying in quantity, say a box of tomatoes or

apples. Often at the end of the day, one can get good deals, since

many farmers don't want to have to go back home with a bunch of

unsold produce. Additionally, one can get good deals on " seconds " .

And when you become a regular at the markets, some farmers will be

happy to give you a good deal.

 

Some foods can be purchased from conventional stores, and it's not

vital that the foods be grown organically. For example, avocadoes

are generally not pesticided because the insects don't eat them.

Some foods, like melons, have such thick skins that protect them

from toxic sprays.

 

Also, Whole Foods has sales each week, and though the stores are

otherwise expensive, the sale items can be very good deals.

 

When shopping at any store, it's a good idea to get to know the

people who work in produce. There's a lot one can learn from them as

to how the food is grown and where it comes from and how it's been

treated. And there are some things one finds out, tips. For

instance, I get mangoes and papayas that come from Mexico, because

those are not subject to a heat treatment; the papayas and mangoes,

and all fruit from islands, is heat treated.

 

If you have a yen for pastries, get a copy of the book " Sweet

Temptations " , which is a raw dessert book. I believe it's out of

print, but you can find copies of it used, among other sites, at:

If you collect your mail by doing a send and receive (like me) and the download is interrupted, you will get everything twice. I cannot think of any other reason why it would happen.

Amy - it's always best to cook the harder/more dense ingredients first:)

Add the tubers long before the squash/soft veggies.

 

When making a proper stock, it is proper to discard the veggie remains

before moving forward:) If they've broken down that far, all you're

getting at that point should be calories...

When cooking, how do you know when to add say carrots or

pototoes

that take some time to cook and softer veggies that do not need

as

much time to cook?

 

Also when I make mock chicken soup, I start by boiling all the

veggies for about 6 hours, I then discard them (unless this is a

base

for a thinker soup - then I mill them) and add new carrots,

pototoes

and onions. - Anyone else? (This kind of feels " bad " and

wasteful -

but i am getting all of the " good stuff' out of the veggies and

tossing mush - that would not be pleasant to eat anyway.)

So glad to hear this. I love my " turnip broth " but not the mushy

veggies.

And in the interest of saving time...with three kids, I'm always

short on time...I sometimes pop those root veggies in the microwave

for a bit too cook, then add them to the soup/stew/chili!

 

Also, for starchy and thickness in chili I have been known to add

potatoes - I love my chili this way, my husband thinks it is

polluted, he likes it " strait up " !

 

When I need a thicker stew I saute some flour at the end of the

onion/celery time - it takes away the flour taste, makes it almost

nutty & then when you add the liquid you'll have a thicker broth. I

also sometimes use cornstarch or potatostarch.
