ROLL CALL AND A QUESTION - *PLEASE CLICK IN HERE*

Time for a Roll Call, folks! Just send a quick answer to the question below

and we will know you're still reading stuff on Vegetarian Spice! Okay? Here

goes (and it's an easy one):

Q: What's your favourite kind of bread?

If you never but never eat the stuff and/or have never liked it, tell us

what your favourite colour is or your favourite companion animal - just as

long as you tell us something you like, okay? And smile - it's not snowing

everywhere (yet),

Thanks for playing along!

Best,

Pat (Co-owner with Piers)

Hi,

Guess what? It snowed heavily in Rome for the first time since

1986....traffic was a mess and I got to throw two snowballs at a street

sign, too! Was great for a change from sun all the time, but I wouldn't want

to have to slog through a whole winter of this stuff....it usually only

snows once every 15-20 years in Rome and was overdue, I guess. I was

thinking of the poor guys who dress like gladiators and pose for tourists at

the Colosseum, they go bare legged, I don't think they went to work today,

really....we run a vacation home here in Rome and today I had to welcome a

group of four from Tampa, Florida, and they were really surprised to see

snow like this, they wanted to get to the Colosseum to photograph it for a

souvenir, the Colosseum under a cap of snow....it's cold tonight too, but

not precipitating, if it were, I think it'd snow again, I think it must be

under freezing from how it feels in the nose when one breathes outside. I

took photos this morning, have to send them to my mom, she won't believe it,

Rome like Chicago! I know we've got warm weather in comparison, they're in

the 20's....

I made a great veggie sauce the other day for friends who0 came over, I took

a can of crushed tomatoes, an onion, and red pepper flakes, basil, and

butter and olive oil and a clove of garlic. I sliced the onions thin and

fried in the oil with the olive oil, till translucent and even a bit golden,

then added the red pepper flakes, and the crushed tomatoes, stirred, and

added the basil and butter and cooke dthe sauce down to when it was

thickened, it went perfectly with some nice fettucine pasta, we ate a whole

half kilo of pasta in four people, it was that good and spicy , too with the

red pepper flakes, but not too much, just a little goes a long way. Butter

makes many dishes taste really great, I will never Italians my secret

touch...they be aghast if they knew it's butter..shhhhh....

Hello to the group and yes, I read, please don't cancel me out, I should

post more recipes more often.

Banana nut or zucchini nut bread! YUM!!!!

They said on the news tonight it's been snowing in 49 of the 50 states in

the last 24 hours. So I guess that leaves Hawaii as the lone snowless

state???

Unable to pick just one, I like sour sourdough (used to have

my own starters going), real pumpernickel, multi-grains, and

focaccia.

Hey all

My problem is that since having my gall bladder removed in 2008 my love

for bread has had to go on hold. It seems that every type I try causes

me a lot of pain once I've eaten it ... any ideas? Prior this I used to

make a great sunflower seed loaf, but have to stop myself making it now

because the temptation would be too much.

P.S. My favourite colour is red :)

I love any kind of whole-grain bread, but, unfortunately, one of the gifts of

lyme disease, was a gluten allergy. So, no wheat, barley, or rye. So, I am

eating this pitiful gluten-free bread that will never measure up to the real

stuff.

I enjoy white bread, wheat bread and raisin bread....I don't bake a lot of bread

but I also like banana and zucchini bread homemade...Oh and foccacia bread I

love too, not sure if the spelling is right. And I have a great recipe for rye

bread dip but I won't share it here since it has [deleted by moderator] in it

and also dairy products in it, not sure if dairy recipes are allowed on this

site...

My favorite companion is a dog, but I don't have one right now! I really want a

golden retriever someday. I like most dog breads and I like cats pretty much

too.

Dog breads?

I'm pretty sure you meant dog breeds but I did start wondering . . .

;<)

My wife and I have had dogs in our home for over 20 years.

They are great. I wish they lived longer though.
