Friend -

I am new to veganism after learning that I have heart disease. I am

working from a cookbook and finding, uniformly, that the recipes are

BORING!!! If my food is not flavorful I get bored and getting bored

is the fastest way for me to regress to old eating habits.

So you see why the name of this group caught my eye! {;-) Please

send me your most flavorful recipes or, if you know of a cookbook

that features flavorful recipes, please let me know the title and

author.

I'm looking forward to this new adventure...but I need some SPICE!!

Thanks,

Michael

Welcome to the group, Michael - we are so pleased to have you join us ;=)

Oh bad luck. But you know there is so much new research being done right

now - and you know that a healthy diet really really makes a huge difference.

Not just veggie propaganda - but you already know that LOL

Oh tell us about it! But that's why I started this list. I was delighted to be a

vegetarian - for many years now - but I really like to have flavourful food and

I

had a hard time finding good recipes ;=) People here are *great*! They all,

collectively, know so much about good flavourful and spicy food!

True!

Yup. As I say, it's why it's here! But it's still a new group - just three and a

half

months old - so we're doing our best. Have you checked out the Files on our

webpage??? Do that if you haven't. Many of our recipes are vegan or can be

easily converted to vegan. If you don't know how to do that, hang around and

we'll show you - you just have to ask ;=) There are all kinds of sneaky tricks

we use to make really great recipes even greater *and* healthy too! LOL

We hope to hear from you lots and lots - please just ask questiions and there

will be somebody for sure who will know the answer!

Best,

Pat - who happens to be the host/owner/dogsbody of this list and it's co-

moderator with a lovely man called Mark ;=)

Well, there are good cookbooks out there...I have some such as the

Moosewood cookbooks (always a favorite). I also have one that's called

" Something for Everyone " and it is set up where there is a " base recipie "

that you make, and then you can either add the meat part of the recipie or

the vegetarian part of the recipie, or split it and make both (very cool

book with some lovely recipies in it)...

but I think the best way to " get " recipies is to just go crazy in the

kitchen...that's what I usually do and how I came up with my award winning

veggie curry *grin*...there are certain flavors of food and spices that I

love, so I just play around with them until I find a mix that I like...

I'm finding that I love to experiment with tofu since it takes up flavors

really well. That, and beans.

Although, I need to start cooking for myself again, sinc I haven't been

doing it much in the last couple of weeks...so, I won't have much new until

later....although, there are a lot of recent recipies I want to try, so...:)

Peace.

Gina
