Hi derek, Jason & All,

Derek, Chinese names (Hanzi / Pinyin) for herbs can be a nightmare for

those who want to see a standard terminology used in CHM.

(a) Some specific Latin names have 2 to 20+ Chinese synonyms.

(b) Some specific Hanzi terms refer to 2 or more DIFFERENT herbs /

species;

characters and refer to 2 or more DIFFERENT herbs / species.

Specifically, Kudingcha has many synonyms (see below) and refers to at

least 2 different Ilex types (I cornuta and I latifolia).

My notes on Kudingcha (from Chinese WWW source

Kudingcha; Maoyehuangniumu; Huangjiangguo; Tucha; Chagai;

mainly consists of Ilex cornuta [Gougu / Gouguye ; Jiaocicha Fm / Ilex

latifolia Fm (Dayedongqing ; Dayedongqingye , Boluoshu , Dayecha ;

Qudengcha);

English Name: Holly~ Chinese / Broadleaf Fm;

Cold~ very; Sweet; Bitter; LV; GB; LU; SJM-SP-ST;

Oral: as Dec / pills, 3-9g; As Topical: qs, cooked in water as fumigant wash;

Clear Heat + Dispel Wind; Chase Wind + Resolve LV Wind; Clear Head +

Eyes; ; Brighten Eyes + Generate Jin-Fluids; Clear LU-SP [Heat]; Dispel

Vexation + thirst; Digestive + Resolve Phlegm; Ease Dysentery; Move Xue;

Diuretic + Laxative (Free Urine / Faeces); Cool uterus;

Applicatrions: Head Wind / Wind Heat headache, tinnitus, deafness,

toothache, eyes~ red; ear occluded w wax / otorrhoea~ septic (Ding'er

Liunong); mouth ulcers / canker; febrile disease w vexation + thirst /
