We just had the news in germany, that Zi Zao, rx lithospermi is not available

anymore due to possible hepatotoxic effects. The german health bureau has

asked the pharmacies supplying chinese herbs to take this herb off the

market. In one patient it seems possible that only after two weeks of taking

it within a balanced decoction, the liver enzymes were considerably raised.

Has anybody heard of this before? Or found anything in the literature?

have heard nothing, is not listed as toxic and in fact is supposed to remove

toxins! Maybe that's why liver enzymes went up - from drawing something

else out of the body.
