Guest guest
We didn't have a farm but always had a huge garden and got most of our meat from uncles when they butchered a steer or pig. Some of my best childhood memories were on my grand parents or uncles farms. Even learned how to ride a pig the summer of '68. We live in 1 of the 2 houses on our land lord's farm. They used to have animals but since they got older, all they had were chickens, ducks, & turkeys. He passed on a couple of years ago but she still plants about 20 acres with help from a few of their 9 kids and some of the grand kids and sells the vegs & eggs at the local Farmer's Market Paula .......... in Michigan Hi Paula, We didn't have a farm but we did have the gardens for all the fresh veggies and lots of fruit tress. Hardly bought much food from the grocery stores. Only things like bread and ice cream , stuff like that. My father bred and raised champion cutting horses and cattle. He was also a land developer amongst other things. I love the country life ! I also like knowing exactly where my food comes from and what is on it or in it. Our best time on the ranch was during the foaling season. Every morning before school during March and April it was my job to check the mare pasture to see who had foaled during the night or who was close to throwing her foal. It was like Christmas everyday. And the surprise was in seeing what coloring and markings each baby had. Oh and if it was a filly or a horse colt. lol I favored fillies. Sally Opening next week !!!!
