Guest guest
Hey Margaret, > Hi group, and specifically Butch and/or Martin, > > My sister just came over and has been applying Dr. Cass Ingrams Oil of > Oregano to remove a wart on her palm. I wasn't to familiar with The cure > in the cupboard, but knew it sounded familiar. Indeed I had read Butch's > posts regarding him and his oil and just copied off all the files on it in > the files section. > > My questions are this. Is thymol toxic and harmful? Is it removed from > the oil? Thymol could be toxic and harmful if one consistently used it .. and it is not removed from Thyme oils. However .. what she is using is NOT Thyme oil .. its Oregano (Origanum something or other) .. he says its all Origanum vulgare but I damn sure know better. ;-) Matters not what type of Origanum it is as its not neat .. its undiluted anyway. I think his regular is like 5% Oregano and 95% Olive Oil and his Super Dooper Guaranteed to Not Rust, Bust or Collect Dust is like 10% in 90% Olive Oil .. and its not gonna hurt most folks .. though one can never be 100% certain of not becoming sensitized to ANY oil. > I read that on Ingrams site and obviously question everything he > writes and recommends. He avoids the use of terms like " Essential Oil " and " Hydrosol " .. always has .. because its not the pure thing .. its always diluted. See URL http://www.oreganol.com/ Because he is a (ex)doctor he can make statements like the below: > To be edible, this essential oil must be made from only wild, > mountain-grown Mediterranean oregano, which is free of all > chemicals and pesticides. The oregano we use is real 100% > Mediterranean oregano, handpicked from the pristine, > untarnished wilderness. Its not true in that any of the Origanums are " technically " edible .. and also note that he always avoids the word " Turkey " .. preferring Mediterranean. Only the rookie buyers miss this. ;-) And because he is an (ex)doctor he can advertise as he wishes .. so he has been able to go Multi-Level Market and also Distributorship .. http://www.oreganol.com/RetailerMap.cfm Here he shows his products .. says he was the first to go on the market with Oregano (definitely not true) and says he is the expert .. which I certainly question unless he means expert marketer .. he used to ask me questions on Oregano similar to many asked by new folks in AT. ;-) http://www.oreganol.com/ProductOreganol.cfm The biggest piece of Bovine Excrement he has on his site is .. > We even PAY the villagers to limit picking to preserve and protect > the plants. Total crap and intended to stroke the Greenies .. Environmentalists! Here he says his " Juice of Oregano " .. which is really Hydrosol .. is grown in high mountains .. up to 12,000 feet above sea level and the plant concentrates oxygen from the air .. which is saying nothing but at the same time is not exactly the way it is .. http://www.oreganol.com/ProductJuice.cfm In truth .. almost all the Oregano in Turkey grows at altitudes between 500-750 meters .. or .. .3 to .46 miles or 1,584 - 2,428 feet. His claim is 12,000 feet. Converting .. 12,000 feet is 2.27 miles high .. so you can see the hype. There is not enough oxygen there. Interesting Trivia: Toward the top of the page here you see terrain .. and it shows the highest point as Mt. Ararat .. of Noah's Ark fame. http://www.allaboutturkey.com/info.htm The altitude is 5,166 meters or 3.21 miles high .. and its nice .. I've been there twice. Examples of his prices: Here you see that 12 oz of his Oregano Hydrosol costs $15.50 Down the page .45 oz Rosemary in a base of Olive Oil costs $24.50 http://www.pennysaved.com/oregano.htm#juice Examples of my prices: Here you see that 16 oz of my TESTED Oregano Hydrosol is $9.59 http://www.av-at.com/hydrosol.html And here you see that 20 ml (2/3 oz) of my STRAIGHT Rosemary is $8.98 http://www.av-at.com/prices.html But I don't do radio and I don't use any marketing hype and I am not an (ex)doctor. ;-) Here he says, " North American Herb & Spice invented the process of making edible essential oils user safe and friendly. " Which I guess means mixing it with Olive Oil .. and he is damn sure not the first to do that. ;-) http://www.oreganol.com/CompanyInfo.cfm Check this site for more information on ex-doctor Cass (Cassim) Igram or Ingram; he uses both names for some reason. http://www.healthwatcher.net/Quackerywatch/Quack-meetings/holisticworld2004.html It states: " Cassim Igram (also known as Cass Ingram or Dr. Oregano) is also scheduled to talk about the healing power of spice extracts. As you may recall we covered Dr. Oregano during his visit to Walkerton, Ontario after he came to town hawking his oil of oregano to fight the E. coli outbreak that killed many Canadians, including a local doctor's child. I can't understand how this formerly licensed D.O. from Illinois can just waltz across the border to spread his gospel of good health nearly every month. " The previous coverage (article) they are referring to is here .. READ THIS if you don't read anything else I have written here. http://www.healthwatcher.net/Quackerywatch/Outbreak/cassingram-mcphee.html Trivia .. back in 1996-1997 Igram made a written contract with me to supply roughly 1,200 kilograms (1.2 metric tons) of Origanum EO and 500 kilograms (1/2 metric ton) of Rosemary EO per year. In order to do this I had to pay in advance for my aromatic materials. He was then located in Buffalo Grove, IL. He would wire transfer funds and I would ship. He later came to visit in Turkey .. along with the money backer for his company .. his girlfriend, Judy Gray. Me and my gal of the time hauled them around Turkey .. showed them all the sites and even footed the bill when Igram claimed to have left his credit cards in Ankara. ;-) While here he cut a deal with a corrupt little bastard Australian Turk who worked as my exports manager at that time .. Unal (Michael) Dogan. I learned of this when the bastard quit a month after Igram left .. and about the time Igram said Oregano was selling slow so he had to stop buying. I fulfilled around 70% the contract at that time. Short of it was the bastard was gonna work out of his mother's home while I had a bevy of employees and an office and taxes and such .. so obviously he could sell for less as he had no overhead and was typically evading taxes. So he made a partnership with the most corrupt distiller in Turkey .. fellow named Mehmet Yilmaz and began to supply Igram. Was but a short time till Yilmaz shafted Dogan so justice was served on one of the bastards in the end. My loss was over $5,000 in materials purchased because the distiller I had a contract with would not return the money .. legally he was on firm ground. So I headed to Buffalo Grove, IL .. mission was to talk or kick ass .. whichever I felt was needed when I got there. The only address I had turned out to be a home .. not an office or company. I called the company and folks refused to give me an address .. and it was not in the telephone book. Legal action was not possible because there is no Reciprocal Enforcement Agreement between the United States and Turkey .. means I would have to sue in Illinois and be there .. and then he could refuse to pay a court ordered demand unless it was also adjudicated by a Turkish court .. and this is the simple of it .. its far more complicated. But I didn't lose a lot of sleep over it as I had made a buck or three. > I need good info to discuss with my sis. She is one that once she > believes in something, then it is hard to convince her otherwise. She is not in any danger with the oil .. but the hard-headed part might get her in hot water in the future. ;-) > I asked her why she didn't come to me first, but she forgot I was into > essential oils and taking Martin's AT Course. Oh well, better late than > never! This is not a matter of the oil being dangerous .. Cass Igram is like Gary Young in that its a matter of lack of ethics. Funny it is that the only three times I have ever been shafted while I owned my Turkish company was by Americans .. two were medical doctors. The second was Dr. Benjamin Negron or San Juan, Puerto Rico. I went there and signed a contract with him to supply 4 each 40 foot containers of roasted, salted and packaged sunflower seeds .. per month .. for 12 months .. using his trademark name. Negron owned a Candy Distributing Company and was in competition with Nestle Sunflower Seeds .. photos of the products are on my old Turkish web site .. http://www.bsi-hq.com/ Specifically at .. http://www.bsi-hq.com/nuts.html Click on the bottom right photo .. it reads .. " Dakota Sunflower Seeds (American) " I brought the sunflowers in from Dakota, USA and had them prepared in Turkey .. it was cheaper that way .. and all the packaging and printing of master cases, cartons, packages, etc., was also done in Turkey. To be prepared for the next month shipment of 4 each 40 ft containers .. each container holding 1,000 master cases .. each master case holding 16 boxes of 36 each packages .. meaning .. 576,000 packages per container X 4 = 2,304,000 packages per month .. I had to print and prepare cartons and such in advance. My printing costs for 4 each containers alone was over $10,000. This Ass Hole cut me off the 5th month and left me with $10,000 of his packaging .. plus sunflower seeds that had entered Turkey without duty because they were imported for the purpose of re-export. Duty was 24% per metric ton. I was then notified by his competitor that he wanted to take over the Puerto Rican market .. his brand name was " Tommy's " .. same contract as before .. but this time I made him pay up front for packaging, etc. He later almost got his butt in a bind with Nestle so he had to back off and he broke the contract with little notice .. I won't mention his name because I suffered no financial loss on that one. Do I hate the two dudes who shafted me? Not now .. I did at one time but not now. I don't respect them and I believe justice will be served on them someday .. in some way. In the years I ran my Turkish company I made a lot of money .. and had a lot of overhead expenses .. 12 employees at one time. But I also spent it all as taxes were 50% so I had the choice to live high on the hawg, entertain a lot and spend money on official travel and hotels (Business Class and 5 Star) or give it to the Turkish government .. y'all guess which option I chose. ;-) IF I had it all to do over again I would do it .. maybe a bit different but I would do it cause it was fun and exciting and I proved to a lot of folks that a lone American could be successful here without a Turkish partner and still shoot straight .. never cut a rubber invoice and never evaded taxes .. I legally avoided them but never evaded. It was all a part of the sliding into home and saying, " It was a helluva ride. " ;-) > Looking forward to replys, > Margaret > www.naturalindulgences.com You got it. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
