Guest guest
Hi Zach: My usual hourly rate x number of hours I spend total as my base charge. Guest guest
My standard rate is $90 per hour. When I make house calls, which includes treating in hospital, I charge time and 1/2 or $135/hr. Of course, it depends on the circumstances and the patient or their family's ability to pay. --- On Sun, 8/23/09, znelms <znelms wrote: znelms <znelms Charge for Hospital Visits? Guest guest
There have been variation of 2 different scenarios: 1. The family wants to keep it simple, and stands guard outside the room while I treat. 2. I have met with the chief physician of different wards on a couple of occasions, explaining to them what my therapy would involve, as well as the clean needle protocol that I would follow, and have added the hospital onto my malpractice policy as an additional insured. knowing that I have malpractice is usually all that it takes. --- On Mon, 8/24/09, Mercurius Trismegistus <magisterium_magnum wrote: Mercurius Trismegistus <magisterium_magnum Re: Charge for Hospital Visits? Guest guest
You need hospital privedges to treat in a hospital. You need to get that from the Hoispital administrator and patient. And you do not need a DAOM title. On Tue, Aug 25, 2009 at 2:14 AM, wrote: > > > There have been variation of 2 different scenarios: 1. Guest guest
Be very careful doing the stand guard maneuver - it could get you into serious legal problems... Even option 2 below is dangerous legally. The AMA are not our friends...they'd want us to be made an example of. Guest guest
Hi Robert, COuld you elaborate on why option 2 would be dangerous legally? Guest guest
I think there is a bit of variation state by state. In Colorado a client can invite ANY practitioner to their hospital room without staff permission, including faith healer, acupuncturists, massage therapist, whoever they choose. Hospital privileges means you can order their staff around and use the rooms as you see fit; you don't need it. I have gone to hospitals and I charge as follows: I make it very clear that my charge starts when I arrive on time, say at 4 PM, it's $90 for every 1/2 hour, and if I have to wait, the same charge applies, then there is additionally a $50 travel fee that is fixed per visit. You want to be careful with " visit fees " because if the MD visits or anything else happens they usually expect you to sit around and wait for free. I send a written letter of agreement before I show up to avoid any confusion about what my charges are. Guest guest
If its not in writing, its not legal. That's why you need written permission. Call your malpractice insurance and inquire, don't take my word for it. In hospitals, you have to do things by the book. Of course, states have varying laws. As for CO, I don't know, but Hospital privedges are not for ordering people around or for rooms, its about being allowed to treat.
