I have a 33 female patient who has had neck pain since a july 2008

auto accident.Neck was fine before that. She has pain at the end of

range when looking down or to the left. Pain is left sided mainly on

Bl/SI & TH channels.Pressure & heat help somewhat. I have done about 6

tx with local pts, some with electro, Th-3 with movement and have used

cuppping with no results, any ideas?

Herbs? Thanks Steve

I suffered neck pain by almost 8 years due a car accident. Then I studied

Tui Na, and at the end of the course, 1 year, my pain disappeared. What was

the treatment? massages at neck, with pan fa, at least 1 time a week.

So after that I have treated a lot of people with the same problem, in most

of cases with very good results. The treatment? the same, neck massage at

least 1 time a week for so long as the patient feels better, some times 2

months, some times 6.

What about Gua sha on her neck?

If she likes pressure and heat and it's been 6 months, that could be instant

results...

another idea is something someone told me for neck pain which works...

Gui zhi tea. 5 qian Gui zhi taken by itself.

If you know Nagano's immune point, that one works like a gem for neck pain.

It's around LI 10, between the LI and SJ channel...

Do cross-fiber massage in that area ipsilateral to the neck pain.

HI Steve - I've used trigger point therapy followed by gua sha or

cupping. Seems to only take a few treatments, even in cases of long

standing.

Hi Karen,

Do you mean motor points ala Matt Callison or Travell? I have been

using ah shi pts. I do agree gusha would be a good idea, patient is

afraid of this due to a massage therapist who did this a long time

ago without asking or explaining. Also, you are using needles not

point injection, correct?

thanks Steve

Hi Steve - Travell's trigger points. I've found cupping to be equally

as effective, can raise some excellent sha. I mostly use sliding

cupping after needling (no injections, shudder) and releasing the TP on

the theory that there was a lot of energy tied up in holding that TP in

the muscle. I don't want it hanging around so I'll disperse with cups

or gua sha or a vigorous mommy massage (that's the only kind I know. I

haven't received training in anything else!).
