When I think of the study done in Britain on additives, it reminds me

of the " accidental study " on 360 children in the Dominican Republic

by Dr. Baret some years ago. He changed the diet of these children

from milk to aspartame juice and the greater majority of all of them

reacted with behavioral problems, confusion, hyperactivity, etc. He

called me very upset and I immediately said, " Doctor, get these kids

off aspartame right away. " He called me back several days later and

said after eliminating the aspartame in several days they all went

To Your Health: The Case Against Food Additives by Dr. Jacqueline

Verrett, FDA toxicologist, you'll see how our FDA has known the

dangers for years and years and done nothing. Dr. Verrett was

speaking out against her own FDA. This is the same toxicologist in

the case of aspartame who said all studies were built on a foundation

of sand and should have been thrown out. She testified before

Sixty Minutes did an excellent job. Today we would not want to test

children with aspartame because we know how it destroys their

brain. In fact, a study was done in Norway some years ago which

showed aspartame damages the brain, especially in the area of

learning. A study in 6 countries never published by Searle in

l983/84, using people in poor villages showed aspartame destroys the brain.

 

Bravo to the journalist for 60 Minutes speaking to Food Standards and

saying it like it is. In the UK the large chains have removed

aspartame from their private products.
