Paul Harvey died today Febuary 28, 2009. This was a prayer he recited on

air. It was announced before the opening of the Kansas State Senate in

1996. It should not be forgot, for it is our world today.

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today to ask Your Forgiveness and seek Your direction

and guidance. We know Your Word says, ''Woe to those who call evil

good,'' but that's exactly what we have done. We have lost our Spiritual

equilibrium and inverted our values. We confess that; we have ridiculed

the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism; We have

worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism; We have endorsed

perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle; We have exploited the

poor and called it the lottery; We have neglected the needy and called it

self preservation; We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare; We

have killed our unborn and called it choice; We have shot abortionists

and called it justifiable; We have neglected to discipline our children

and called it building self-esteem; We have abused power and called it

political savvy; We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it

ambition; We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and

called it freedom of expression; We have ridiculed the time-honored

values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, O God,

and know our hearts today; try us and see if there be some wicked way in

us; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men

and women who have been sent here by the people of this state and who

have been ordained by You, to govern this great state of Kansas. Grant

them your wisdom to rule and may their decisions direct us to the center

of Your Will.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Paul Harvey. I remember him on the

radio waves like 40 years ago.

At that time, there was a lot of sense in what he said. But I have to

I can see why you might believe his religious beliefs are narrow and biased but you should see that his ideas are on target. The results of our modern philosophies are well indicated by the current egocentic society that has caused the decay of this once-great nation. Well, I don't consider all people who are on welfare to be lazy and

remember this " great nation " actually caused its own downfall from the

beginning when it STOLE the land it now occupies from its orginal

occupants rather than LEARNING how to RESPECT these occupants and

LEARNING how to LIVE IN HARMONY WITH THEM. Did Paul Harvey bring this

up in his prayer? No of course not. So in a way, this " great nation "

Can you imagine if "this great nation" would have LEARNED how SHOW

respect

to the original occupants from the very beginning? It would have

learned WHY it was SO IMPORTANT to CARE for

our WATER and LAND vs destroy it with CONCRETE and PESTICIDE POISONS.

You RESPECT the water and land and it will TAKE CARE of YOU. GET IT?

It would have LEARNED that the FOOD that the original inhabitants were

eating BEST FOODS

for our health VS all the PROCESSED FOODS CRAP that so many are eating

and getting sick from.

Yeah this "great nation" really shot itself in the foot from day one.

email says that a session of the Kansas State Senate was opened in

prayer by a Pastor Joe Wright. His prayer was a sizzling one

and prompted controversy. The story says that several members

of the Senate got up and walked out and that Paul Harvey aired the

text of the prayer and it prompted the largest response he's ever

The Truth:

This

event actually happened in the Kansas House (not Senate) in Topeka on

January 23, 1996. Joe Wright is the pastor of Central Christian

Church in Wichita and was guest chaplain that day. He prayed a prayer

of repentance that was written by Bob Russell, pastor of Southeast

Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. According to an article in

the Kansas City Star from January 24, 1996, his prayer did stir

controversy and one member of the legislative body walked out. Others

criticized the prayer. The controversy didn't end there. Later that

year in the Colorado House, Republican representative Mark Paschall

angered lawmakers by using Joe Wright's prayer as the invocation. Some

members there also walked out in protest.

 

Paul Harvey did air the story and the prayer. He got such a

large response that a phone number was set up to handle the

calls. He's aired it a couple more times since.

Too true - the same with any " great empire " - look at UK and the nations it

once " conquered " now able to bring it to its knees - national karma is

sometimes very awkward ........ sure our PM can apologise to the aboriginal

nation for the deeds of our forefathers - but that isn't to say that nature

wont be used to punish us even if the Aboriginals don't - nature was their

ally - not ours - we do not, as a culture, align ourselves or seek to

understand and love nature or even respect it - if anything we choose to

work against it - with Monsanto that American horror by our side ...... we

are on high fire warning again now for the next 48 hours - 8 p.m. tonight

until late Wednesday .... we never know where repercussions will come

fell to the " white fella " - what was their karma that this happened?

History goes further back than any of us know ......... I guess it all goes

back to the chicken and the egg! Even the Tibetans once conquered China -

All Indians were not religious, peace-loving, and/or respectful of Mother Earth so let us not sanctify them. The earth was there for those who settled there. The Indians did not ask permission to settle there. The good settlers from Europe did not need anyone's permission either. It was the criminals that took advantage of the Indians not those seeking refuge from religious persecution.

 

There were good and bad Indians just as there were good and bad settlers. Unfortunately the meek have inherited the remains of the US after the bad were finished with it. I don't think it has to do with why I am choosing to live here or why

People have been talking about Paul as if he quit broadcasting decades ago. He

wasn't on much since his wife died last year, but he was still going and still

broadcasting when he could. This week on the stations that still carried him

they have been broadcasting a salute to this wonderful role model, the likes of

whom there may never be again. To bash his great principles is a sign of the

degeneration of the times. He was truly a great American, and we need more of

these more than ever.

Unfortunately the meek have inherited the remains of the US after the bad were

finished with it.  This was a great nation and remains the greatest of all time

because it once had a spiritual backbone.  Unfortunately, it seems that time

has passed.  And it has nothing to do with the karma of our ancestors but the

evil that exists on earth.
