Hi Folks,

I wonder if anyone can help me with this question? When in history

did the first 5E chart depicting the 5E in a circle, and the elements

in a circle within each organ, arise? I'm talking about the chart that

shows the element points within each of the 12 organs as a microcosm

of the whole circle. Like the chart JR Worsley produced in the 1970's.

Does such a chart exist historically?

Thanks, Lonny Jarrett

The JR Worsley chart looks like a copy of the *Five Element Acupoint Chart

(24 X 41) *by Shohaku

Honma<http://www.redwingbooks.com/products/authors/Shohaku%20Honma.cfm>

produced

in 1942...Its one of my favorite charts and hanging on my wall. You can get

it here from Redwing Books:

I don't believe Worsley produced it by himself, I believe he had inspiration

from this chart. Its too close to Worsley's chart and predates it by nearly

30 years.

I also think Worsley studied Japanese 5 element acupuncture and from French

sources.

Just my $0.02.

Lonny: Yes, Im familiar with this chart. My very real interest is

whether or not there is an example of it prior to about 1860.

Hugo: Hey Lonny, is this a question you already know the answer to?

Lonny: No Hugo, it isn't. I have suspicions, for theoretical reasons

alone, that no such chart could have existed prior to the mid to late

1800's but I have no idea if one did. The Daoists loved drawing

charts and there are thousands of texts I've never seen.

So, if anyone with a classical background has any info on an earlier

appearance of the 5 element chart in its current form than the

Japanese chart of the 1930s I'd love to know.

Thanks, lonny
