po sum om for migraines?

one of my patients who is an infant icu nurse at mission hosp has told me

that the nurses there are using po sum om for migraine headaches. they use

it locally, massaging it into the affected area. as they aren't allowed to

take drugs while working, the po sum om has given them a measure of

tolerable relief.

 

has anyone else heard about this off label use of po sum om. i found it at

once intriguing and creative. i'm thinking the menthol and the dragon's

blood opens the orifices and provides local blood circulation, while the

huang qin clears heat, thereby offering the pain relief.
