Tell Yoplait to Put a Lid on rBGH!Dear Friend,Pink ribbon products are popping up all over the place, reminding us that Breast Cancer Awareness Month is nearly here. One of the pink ribbon products you've probably seen in stores is Yoplait yogurt. Yoplait makes a 10 cent donation for every pink lid that consumers mail back to the company.Yoplait markets its yogurt as being healthy for women, but what's actually under the lid is a different story.Yoplait yogurt

is made with milk from cows that have be en injected with the synthetic hormone recombinant bovine growth hormone (called rBGH or rBST). There are numerous health concerns surrounding rBGH, and breast cancer is one of them. The use of rBGH has been banned in the European Union, Canada, Australia, and Japan. rBGH is unsafe and unnecessary. Mega-corporations like Wal-Mart and Starbucks are already making their dairy products rBGH-free. If these companies can do it, Yoplait can too. Take Action: Tell Yoplait to Put a Lid on

rBGH!If Yoplait, a popular item with such a wide distribution, were to go rBGH-free, it would help make a safer product for millions of women. And that could truly make a difference in breast cancer—helping to stop the disease before it starts. This October, instead of picking up lids, go online or pick up a pen, and ask the company to do the right thing for women's lives: tell Yoplait to put a lid on rBGH.Take action at thinkbeforeyoupink. orgSincerely,Barbara A. Most breast cancers are estrogen-positive, and dairy is loaded with

estrogen---especially the non-organic because of the injected

hormones. Besides that, cancer feeds on sugar and yoplait has its fair

(or unfair) share of the stuff! I have breast cancer and have been

told to stay away from meat, dairy and sugar.

I rang Yoplait in Australia and they assure me that all milk that goes into

their products is tested prior for growth hormone which is not permitted in

their products here - they said they would send me written conformation

which I will post here when I get it

Best,

Jane

Yoplait is a junk food even without the hormonal content. If their cows are weaned off rBGH for a period of time the hormonal levels will be below government levels. However, for those who understand the theory of homeopathy, lower levels can be just as potent.

The addition of natural flavors without

itemising what these natural flavors are would

make me think that it is highly likely to

chemicals better to be avoided. Why not put

them on the label if there is nothing to hide?

The fact that the FDA doesn't require disclosure

as long as the FDA believes they are GRAS

http://www.foodfacts.com/members/item_definition.cfm?id=3065

would not be enough reassurance for me to accept it to be safe.

Certain chemicals also have the exemption of

having to be on a label if the added amount is less than a minute percentage.

Yoplait used to be one of the yogurts containing

aspartame. I couldn't find anything that

highlighted the fact that aspartame has been substituted for something else.

Hello Jane,

How many grams of sugar (or is it aspartame?) does yoplait have?

Because it is my understanding that the yogurts with all the sugars

aren't as beneficial to our health anyway and I would have to agree

with Tony, that it falls in the catagory of JUNK FOOD.

Thanks,

Josephine

Hello Jane,

Since you are not allowing me to post my messages on the forum anymore,

I thought I would post it directly to you and Tony instead.

Even if Yoplait came from untainted milk, it is still full of sugar (or

is that aspartame?)

and thus not really good for our health. Even I don't buy it.

So I will have to agree with Tony (the American) that yoplait is JUNK food.

I hope you don't ban Tony from his responses just because you don't like

what he said

just like you did to me.
