RJ,

When my son had constant ear infections & was threatened with a second

set of tubes we learned about vinigar & alcohol. Do a slolution of half

white vinigar & half rubbing alchohol. Put some in his ears after every

bath or anytime he gets water in his ears & especially after swimming.

Have him hold his head to the side so it stays in the ear for a minute

then just let it drain out. After we strated doing this he very seldom

got ear infections. If his ears are raw it will sting a little bit.

Whenever my ears bother me this is what I do then use a mullein oil like

CM suggested. Works every time for me!

Our chiropractor advised 'stripping' the glands (as well as chiropractic

treatment & prevention) by gently but firmly placing your fingers behind the

ear and working your way downward and forward to the bottom jaw, then

slightly forward and down the neck. Says it may help get fluids moving in

the directions they should be going. I generally do this to the 'presented'

ear while my child is nursing, sometimes whether he needs it or not. :) You

may want to add a few drops of carrier oil to you fingers. We don't usually

need it. HTH

Have a wonderful day!

Lisa

Chris is right. Chronic ear infections are often traced to allergies,

most likely to milk products.

Also given babies a bottle, when lying down..

Sorry your boys had the ear infections, 'cause I know their pain-- I had

them from age 9 to 19, caused by swimming in a lake that had cedar trees

around it -- every body got infections! The correction -- their tubes

aren't too small, they have a 'kink' in them until adulthood, and the fluid

can't drain.

No, that is an overgeneralization by whoever wrote that study. Either it

will drain or not. Adulthood does help :-) in straightening out the kink,

and allowing it to drain. I got reflief from some ear drops they gave me

(think they had cortisone in them), and hydrogen peroxide dropped in the ear.

Since then, after studying herbalism, I discovered mullein flower oil is

the best, and it can be infused with some garlic. A bit of SJW oil added to

the mix is wonderful, too. After it is dropped in the ear, wait about five

minutes, turn the child on their side of the ear infection, and let the oil

run back out. This will help the drainage. Works like a charm.

I never had a problem with my boys having ear infection because I honestly

believe Ear Candling is the way to go...at least it worked for me and both my

boys who are now 15 and 17 and never had an ear infection at all....you can find

info on the internet about it...I swear by them for all of my family....I was

raised on it and my kids are too

Re: Chronic Ear Infections

Hi RJ

I have had problems with chronic ear infections with each

of my four boys. This is a bit of what I learned with them.

The tubes in their ears are too small to let fluid drain properly

causing a back up which then becomes infected. My children

started with a pattern of sniffles, colds or allergies, then an ear

infection would almost always follow. One of my children had

so much fluid backed up in his ears that it hardened, he could not

hear and had to have surgery to remove it and tubes put in.

My oldest is almost 13 and has had to have many surgeries including

reconstructive surgery.

My youngest had so many frequent ear infections that most antibiotics

became ineffective. The last straw was antibiotic injections that he had

to get every 2 days for a week until it finally cleared up.

My pediatrician gave me a prescription for some kind of decongestant

that my son refused to take when he got any kind of sniffles.

Since he wouldn't take the meds (which I didn't really want to give him

any way) I started to diffuse eucalyptus globus to help keep the fluid

moving and massage his sinus' with lavender in jojoba oil.

So far, this seems to get him through with out turning into an ear

infection.

My younger two have not had to have surgery. I really believe that

this has helped them.

BTW, I read a study that said that most ear infections will clear up on

their own with out antibiotics, the childs own immune system will handle

it.

And that doctors are making it much

worse by giving antibiotics to children who come in with a cold to

" prevent " a possible ear infection. (duh!)

Hopefully he will just outgrow it, many children do by that age.

I can attest to the effectiveness of this. I have worked for 2 different

chiro offices in the past, and the success with kids and ear infections is

amazing!
