Dear Peggy,

Since you asked on-list, I decided to answer on-list

too hoping it might be interesting too other list

members, even tho homeopathy is slightly off the topic

of Oils or Herbs, although perhaps it's arguably an

" Etc. " , huh? ;-)

In addition to that Matthew Wood book I mentioned in a

previous post that has both herbal and homeopathy

info, I would highly recommend the following three

books to get started with the subject:

Impossible Cure: The Promise of Homeopathy

by Amy Lansky

The story of how Amy's son was cured of autism by

homeopathy. Interestingly Amy was a scientist (with

NASA I think?) during the period this happened.

To learn more about the book and the author:

http://www.impossiblecure.com/

Impossible Cure is my all-time favorite beginner's

book on homeopathy. But it's really more than that, I

had studied for 7 years when I read it, and I still

learned something! But it's great for complete

beginners too. This one is not free, but it's only

$18.95!

To buy from a great homeopathy and alternative

medicine book source (BTW, you can get the Matthew

Wood book here too, even tho Amazon says it's out of

print):

http://www.minimum.com/

To read reviews (but please buy from www.minimum.com

or some other homeopathy book source rather than

Amazon.)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0972751408/qid=1086069795/sr=1-1/r\

ef=sr_1_1/002-5059904-2090440?v=glance & s=books

TWO GREAT BOOKS ONLINE FOR FREE!:

DEMYSTIFYING HOMEOPATHY, Jacob Mirman, MD

(To read for free or to buy a book)

AND

Beyond Flat Earth Medicine

by Timothy R. Dooley, ND, MD

To read for free or to buy the 2nd edition:

http://www.drdooley.net/Book.pdf

And for the reviews about Beyond Flat Earth Medicine:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1886893012/qid=1086069899/sr=1-1/r\

ef=sr_1_1/002-5059904-2090440?v=glance & s=books

And here's my all-around favorite homeopathy site in

on the web: (check out other books free on-line here

too, but most are professional level and would

probably frustrate beginners.)

www.homeopathyhome.com

Happy reading!

I have to strongly disagree with the premise/promise of the following book.

Autistic Spectrum conditions have symptoms and characteristics that can be

treated by various medical means, but the normal condition itself cannot be

" cured " . They are neurobiological conditions. The brains are wired

differently, and in many cases, just built differently. Niether homeopathy, nor

traditional medicine, nor aromatherapy is going to be able to cause the brain to

spontaneously re-wire itself.

I just don't want others to be misled that there exists a 'cure'. Cases do

exists where the child had problems with communication and sensory issues that

were treated medically and *seemed* to cure some of the autism, but often it is

a case of treating the various symptoms. Which is fine, but it is not a cure

for autism itself.

She refers to autism as a " disease " . That offends me. Autism is not a disease.

It is, as I said before a neurobiological condition. It doesn't make one on the

autistic spectrum a freak, etc. They are wired differently than those who are

referred to as neuro-typicals (NTs) in the autistic world. There exist many

levels of autism which is why it is referred to as the autistic spectrum.

Having said that, Lansky's son may have had vaccine induced autism. I can't

speak as fully about that, as I have not heard of cures for that either, but

maybe there is a better chance than with the 'born with' type. Some speculate

that vaccine induced autism is not neurobiological autism, but a strong sypmtom

based similar condition on the spectrum.
