Dear Friends,

A patient of mine recently raved about a Japanese medicine fermented food

purported to have powerful blood invigorating properties, particularly used to

dissolve blood clots without thinning the blood. Anything too good to be true

invariably is, and so I am skeptical. Does anyone know anything about this

substance: Nattou Kinase?

Thanks,

Yehuda

Dear Yehuda,

Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natto

http://japanesefood.about.com/od/bean/a/natto.htm

Traditionally the Japanese have considered all sticky foods blood cleansing

(removing toxic heat from Blood) - Natto is such a food. It is a traditional

Japanese food made from fermented soybeans often eaten (not by the younger

urban population anymore though) with breakfast.

Hope this helps,

Best regards,

Nattokinase is the active ingredient in a German product called Wobenzym. It has

beeb clinically tested in Europe and is effective for fighting inflamation after

injury, however, it also has a benefit for many aging symtoms, such as high

cholesterol.

You are right, Alon. I beleive the active ingredient in Wobezym is

serrapeptase as it is in the similar Vitalzym. However Vitalzym does

have a produce called Nattovita whose main ingredient is

nattokinase-- primarily used for circulation issues and lipid

metabolism...ie blood cleansing and vitalizing.
