Anyone in favor of breastfeeding?

Yes Yes Yes!

I breastfed my son (now 15) until he was 3. It was so important for his immunity

(he is hardly ever sick) and his digestion (he did not have the horrible spitup

problems a lot of formula babies do).

I couldn't have gotten started without the assistance of a local breastfeeding

support group. You need to be in contact with them before you give birth. I had

to call someone in the group from my hospital bed, to get help for teaching the

baby to latch on, and one even visited to help. Had I not, the hospital would

have started the baby on formula. You can't blame them, they have their own

criteria, which is keeping your baby alive and thriving.

It sure would help if hospitals had breastfeeding consultants on staff, but the

next best thing is your own support system. There are La Leche groups all over,

and generic ones like the one I had, called simply Nursing Mothers Support

Group. I got info about them from my midwives.

I am just curious how many in here are in favor of breastfeeding.

I was talking with a friend recently as I made a observation that I

previously overlooked. It appears, at least when I had my baby, a few

years ago, that hospitals worked against you breastfeeding. They were

very unprofessional with me and did terrible things with me and my

child.

I was just wondering what other people's opinions were.

Thanks.

You will find cent per cent will agree with breastfeeding.

There are no other medicine for the child rather than mother's milk.

Throughout the world breastfeeding is encouraged.

Friends, are you not agreeing with me??

With Kind regards,

Venkatesh

When I had my children who are now 16 and 18, breast feeding was

very " in fashion " . The nurses highly encouraged breast feeding and

helped where ever possible with new mothers.

What I found challenging was when the nurses gave sugar water to the

babies and I requested my baby never recieve sugar water, or any

bottle as I felt this went against breastfeeding. (Besides that,

what's wrong with plain water, my babies drank it)

My doctor encouraged me to continue breast feeding despite many

problems I was having.

With my experience I have to say I would never consider bottle

feeding, unless there was a medical reason.

Not only was I feeding the baby what god provided as the best food

source, but the bonding moments were irreplacable. The teasing look

a baby gives it's mother when he first learns to bite is something

I'll never forget, not to mention the many nights we fell asleep only

to wake up hours later with the baby still nursing.......priceless

moments.

Breast feeding is the best choice. If you have inverted nipples then of

course you can't, but I tell my new moms that the healthiest choice is to

breast feed as long as possible.

I can't believe that such natural thing as breastfeeding needs to concern the

legislature... bills have to be passed to ensure a BFing woman does not get into

trouble..... and some states are still not in favor of BF-ing (hello medieval

times)

Anyway, isn't most of the people in charge of passing such bills males?

Really? This is a strange question on a more natural forum. I

breastfed my twins until after their third birthday when they quit and

I'm still nursing a 22 month old until she does. So I am very much in

favor of it.
