Guest guest Report post Posted March 29, 2008 Hi, I had systemic candida. My process to get rid of it, in a nutshell: No sugar (of *any* kind) No breads/grains/potatoes No caffeine I'm not sure why the caffeine was part of it; the sugars and breads/grains/etc (essentially any foods which are starchy) are " Candida Food " .... so the idea is to starve the little buggers to death. It takes awhile; you may need to repeat the process more than once (particularly if you incorporate sugars/starches back into your diet and notice similar symptoms as you do now (that may mean you haven't killed it all). The bad news: " Cold Turkey " off those substances hurts like he**, and you might wish *you* were the one dying off, rather than the Candida. I've never had such headache in my life!!! The good news: After about 4 days of incredible pain (ever seen anyone detox from heroin?... kinda like that).. I felt *WAY* better than I have in years and years. I'd suggest checking with your health care practitioner first, to make sure there's nothing else going on... I believe there's a relatively simple test that can be run to determine if candida is in fact a problem for you. If it is, what I described above will really help kill it dead. After that process, ensuring that you're getting optimal nutrition, and that your digestive tract has enough beneficial flora should help prevent another flare-up. Does anyone else here have/had this and if so how have you gotten rid of it? Pat(KY)
Guest guest Report post Posted March 30, 2008 I can totally identify with what you went through. You didn't say what set you on your path but in my case, I went to a naturopath after feeling like sh** for soooo long. Had Chronic fatigue then fibro yada, yada, yada. I have been in the health food industry so knew a certain amount of stuff I could do for myself but hit a brick wall where I knew I needed help. He told me, after testing, I had enough candida to start my own bakery (ha!ha!) and then put me on the same regime as you. The reason for the " no caffeine " was because he had put me on some homeopathic remedies for my problems. And, like you, thought I was gonna die from the die off! I knew, from being in the industry, that cleanses could cause die off but, OMG, this was something else!! The thing is, the medical community does not recognize candida the way the holistic community does. So, my question to you, Monica is, what test were you referring to? And, were you put on homeopathic remedies? If so, caffeine and also anything mentholated will also cause it not to be effective. I would, also, be interested in your follow-up. How have you managed your health since? > Hi, > > I had systemic candida.
