Fatty Liver (STEATOSIS)

I got rid of my fatty liver by losing 90 lbs. I started a food plan in December

06 and have followed it strictly. I have never been much of a drinker so the

fatty liver was coming from poor health in general, inactivity and obesity I

believe, plus diabetes. I joined Food Addicts in Recovery and have followed

their food plan. I still have another 25 lbs to go but ultrasound showed that I

no longer have a fatty liver. Yeah! That was one big " win " for me. I am

careful about eating only the right fats, i.e., fish oil, olive oil mainly, lots

of vegetables, fresh and cooked and protein portioned by scale.

Hi Jack,

Food Addicts in Recovery is a 12 step program like AA and broke off from

Overeater's Anonymous 12-14 years ago. In FA you get a sponsor and the sponsor

gives you a food plan which is similar to the diabetes diet (more food for men

than women proportion-wise). All food is weighed and measured each day and you

call your sponsor with your food which you " commit " and have also written on

paper in a journal. It encourages honesty and integrity regarding food. It is

a spiritually based program like AA. It is very strict and not for everyone,

that is for sure, but it has the biggest success rate for weight loss I've ever

seen.

For some reason when you eat this particular diet you have NO food cravings and

I believe it is because food is weighed and measured. I still don't get that.

I don't eat out much, but have a few times, so it is time intensive and it takes

time to keep all this food prepared for 3 meals a day. My husband eats this way

too and he has lost about 45 lbs. I have very little craving for sweets now.

You can see if they have meetings in your area and just go to a meeting and see

if that seems doable. Just type in google Food Addicts in Recovery (not to be

confused with Food Addicts Anonymous which is a program which is not as strict

as Food Addicts in Recovery). Most of us believe we have an addiction to

certain kinds of foods and we have addictive personality traits. I don't say

I'm an addict, but have addictive personality traits.

Let me know if you need any more information.
