Bravo for Pepsi for being courageous enough to make this bold move!

Long live Pepsi!

Well, if I drink any " commercial soda " (as opposed to the little natural

brands) I drink Coke ;-p

But to head off any major quarrels over such things I'll say this ..

political correctness is a bit over the top nowadays and anyone who gets

offended by the words " Under God " needs to get a little tougher skin and

get over it .. but at the same time .. the original pledge never had the

words " Under God " in it - that was added in the 50's, so its not like

saying it without those words really is saying it improperly, and they

need to relax, and get over it .. so I just don't think anyone should be

offended either way ...

Now, have a Coke and a smile (even though it rots yer teeth *lol* ;)

Funny, but until 1954 those words were not part of the Pledge. The Pledge waw

originally written by a Baptist minister in August 1892. He was a Christian

Socialist. There have been only two changes to the Pledge The first change was

in 1923 and 1924 when the DAR wanted " My Flag " changed to " the Flag of the

United States of America. "

Very sad that we Americans have lost the true sight. We inflict what one

interest group wants over all peoples. We all do not believe the same, nor

should we. The US was founded on religious freedom. What happened to that.

BTW I happen to LOVE my country and my way of life. I am also retired

military.

Blessed Be

Chris,

I don't guess it matters one way or another whether we are offended

or not. Or a matter of whether it's politically correct or not. If

we were offended by every thing that large companies do we would

live our life offended. I guess the one thing I do resent is that

they insult our intelligence by saying that they don't want to

offend anyone. Did they honestly think that there are those that

won't be offended by them leaving it off. Sounds like giberish to

me. I just plain don't care but think it very amusing. *grin* I

like to pick my battles and this one just isn't worth fighting.

Hi Evelyn :)

Yep, I totally agree with ya. As they say - by trying to please

EVERYBODY we invariably end up pleasing nobody, and get a bland world

too ;) And I love that we all have open minds and different opinions -

just as long as folks' minds aren't so open that their brains fall out

(and to be honest, that seems like an epidemic these days, no matter

what the slant is ;)

As you know, from being on this list for some time - I don't mind the

Pepsi post one little bit (or the response(s) to it) - and anyone who

does .. needs to get tougher skin and get over it ... ;) I think its

good to express our feelings and personalities (as long as we aren't

mean or flaming folks)

And I still drink Coke, so in the end it doesn't affect me anyway ;-p

Have a great weekend folks! And as Butch would say " Y'all Keep Smiling "

Chris,

Quite honestly, I buy which ever is on sale. I like to save the few extra

dollars to buy oils, herbs, etc. Words either on or off, in or out are just

that words. Whatever you believe in your heart is what will dictate your life.

I just want to love everybody and respect all. Although, sometimes I think my

brains are in danger of falling out. LOL

Linda,

If we just tune in to the last line, there would be no squabbles. It does stand

for liberty and justice for all. All colors, all creeds, all sexual

True :) Too bad the beauracratic machine does not see it that way.

LOL I have about 50 cases total of both kinds. They'll all be gone next week

when all my " kids " will be here. My boys will be home from Iraq next week and

the whole family get together here at the house. Just found out last night that

they will be coming home and I am ecstatic.

Poor neighbor from hell is going to flip when he sees all the people coming in.

hehehe Last time everyone came at the same time was when we moved in and he

freaked and called the cops.

Dear Everyone:

I *must* put my two cents in regarding the Pepsi question. Mostly from a health

viewpoint, but, also, addressing the " Under God " question.

Please read the ingredients of Pepsi and Coke. Soft drinks are one of the WORST

insults you can do to your body. You are basically drinking a chemical broth

with them. Rotting your teeth is only the beginning. Soft drinks wear down the

kidneys, congest the liver (because the liver has to detox your body from all

the *rap in the drink), leeches calcium from bone so it's the very worst thing

for any woman concerned w/osteoporosis (and, unfortunately, we all must be

concerned w/it), aggravates all inflammatory conditions of the bowel, skin, and

joints, is loaded w/sugar which therefore contributes to our national disgrace

regarding the rates of Adult Onset Diabetes and obesity. If you drink the

sugar-free it's worse, as, the aspartame has devastating effects on the nervous

system, which I'd be very happy to go into in another post, if y'all (if I may,

Butch!) are interested.

As far as Pepsi using the " Under God " or not: They should be embarrassed for

their transparency in trying to capitalize on peoples' patriotism. It is merely

an advertising ploy. They are shamelessly exploiting our increased national

consciousness and fear of terrorism-how *low* is that? Pretty darned low.

Don't you think if they had a *shred* of patriotism they'd be producing a

product that INCREASED the health of the population of the US, rather that

sapping it away, and increasing health care costs, and, causing much misery over

damaged health?

And, now, I have to go bake a cake! My family is coming over for dinner later!

Off the *soapbox* :) for now,

Rebecca

Too true! Too true, and worse yet, my husband drinks Mountain Dew - that

stuff has even more bad stuff in it than Coke. I refuse to let me 3 yr

old drink soda .. closest he gets to it is some juice (and we only do

100% juice - or homemade juice) and a little shot of sparkling mineral

water. Usually I don't even drink Coke (its the rare occasion that I

have a commercial soft drink). I get stuff like the Reed's all natural

Ginger Brew .. or my favorite beverage of all ... WATER! Lately though

my drink of choice aside from water has been .. lactation tea *lol*

Thank you for the soda info Rebecca :) Please, so send whatever info on

aspartame that you want. Since its introduction I never went near the

stuff. It is REALLY bad news :(

I hope the family supper turns out great!
