Guest guest
Does anyone make EO based insect repellant sprays for sale? I've been asked for some (especially for pets) and I'm wondering waht to use as a base. I also hate to use a chemical solubilizer, but I'm not sure I see any practical way around it . . . any suggestions here - especially whetehr there are any relatively ones and sources of such. Any helpful information and/or experiences will be *greatly* appreciated! Off list replies are fine if you prefer. Btw, I got my catnip EO from Butch yesterday (thanks, Butch!), and I don't think it smells all that bad . . . it's not the *greatest* smelling stuff I've ever come across, but I think mixed w/ some other insect repelling EOs like lemongrass, lemon tea tree, cedar, lavender, etc., it won't be bad at all. Guest guest
I just use fractionated coconut oil which is lightweight enough to put in a spray mister. It also doesn't leave skin greasy. Works great! Guest guest
Oh, that is for people, not for pets. I don't think you'd want to spray oil all over your pet's fur --yuk! When I make a repellant for my dog, I just use distilled water, the essential oils and sometimes just a bit of borax. You need to shake with each use, but then it doesn't leave my pup all greasy! Guest guest
You can soak the pets collar in the oil mix and place on the pet when dry, I haven't tried it yet but it's what I've heard... Guest guest
Lisa, I also use patchouli in the warm weather. Keeps those skeeters away. In the winter I mix it with other things. Nancy scents1
