Guest guest
I have never heard of anyone treating a tapeworm and why would you want to make them stronger? Fructus Pruni Mumi is one possible herb and food (umeboshi plums) that can be added to diet and I have heard of using essential oils (must be high grade) internally as well as externally with success. Guest guest
OK, Santa. Baichongwo is mentioned as an extra point in Chinese Acu and moxa pg 241. I have not used it. My guess is that if you were to clear any and all abdominal reflexes (such as refered by Kiiko Matsumoto or others) and combined this with dietary changes and/or internal cleansing protocols then improvement will happen. Increase circulation and they will not hang around long. Think about the umeboshi eaten with meals. Later Mike W. Guest guest
Attilio, No points but herbs... Haven't treated, but the following info is in my notes. Goldenseal Composition: Goldenseal contains a compound called berberine that kills many of the bacteria that cause diarrhea. Berberine has also been shown to kill a wide range of other types of germs, such as those that cause yeast infections, as well as various parasites such as tapeworms and giardia. Berberine may also activate your white blood cells, making them more effective at fighting infection. For these reasons, it is used as an all-around disinfectant, both externally and internally. Goldenseal also stimulates the production of bile, a fluid produced by your liver that helps digest fats. Goldenseal is used as a healing tonic for the digestive tract, and is considered helpful for easing chronic constipation, and hemorrhoids. Forms: Goldenseal is available as tablets (various concentrations), powdered root in capsules (various concentrations), alcoholic tinctures, and low-alcohol extracts. Precautions Do not use goldenseal if you are pregnant or have high blood pressure. If used for long periods of time, goldenseal can irritate the skin, mouth, throat, and vagina. It can also reduce the number of good bacteria in your digestive system, which can cause nausea and diarrhea. Large doses may also interfere with your body's ability to absorb B vitamins. Interactions There have been reports of goldenseal reducing the effectiveness of antibiotics, specifically tetracycline and tetracycline-derivatives like doxycycline. If you are currently taking any of these antibiotics, you should consult your healthcare provider. -------------------------------- Also: Have attached my notes --- Chapter 17, herbs that expel parasites (just smiled as I recall my instructor, Dr Cheng doing this little dance as she told about worms). kathleen Attilio D'Alberto <attiliodalberto wrote: Hi all, Does anyone know any good acupuncture points for treating a tapeworm? Guest guest
That's OK. 5 E Design will work out a diagnosis from available parameters, and as easily work out the parameters from a suspected diagnosis. The tenia solium type worm, the commonest, can be seen in TCM patterns as an External Pathogen, and will therefore always cause an illness of Excess. As it's main abode is the Yang Ming pair of viscus es, the Excess is likely to involve Earth to begin with [sT ingesting the eggs of worm] and by progression Metal as a natural Mother Son consequence. The 5 E Design till now is: An Excess in Earth causing an Excess in Metal. Excess in Earth can be the symptoms of nausea, vomiting, overly eating, one eats for two, emaciation, muscle wasting, constipation, weight loss and gain, erratic, and the classical earth complexion. Excess in Metal can be the symptoms of diarrhea, constipation, far more seriously, the 'gatherings' of Mae Jing, fluid filled abdomen, lethargy, somnabulance, and so on. Terribly, sometimes the " upper " of Metal is involved, and one has dyspnea, cough, bleeding from nostrils, and a regular Mae Jing " accumulation " in the LU. The 5 E Design graduating to the KO murderous evil of Nan Ching patterns:: An Excess in Earth causing an Excess in Metal now involves: sub pattern a - ST Aggressing on UB sub pattern b - LI Aggressing on LV The former will cause the strangury where urine ceases to flow, dribbling, hematuria with frank blood in urine. The latter will cause the dreaded impregnation of LV with the cysts, Cysticerci, of the adult. Pulse patterns initial: Region - guan of R to begin with, guan of both as illness progresses Full or Empty - Full to begin with, Empty as illness progresses Fast or Slow - Fast Yin or Yang - Yang Superficial or Deep - Superficial Pulse patterns subsequent: Region - still guan of both Full or Empty - Floating Empty Fast or Slow - Fast Yin or Yang - Yin within Yang Superfcial or Deep - Superficial One more characteristic devbelops, and that is Hollow, again at both guans. This is because of the consistent bleeding as the worm slices open capilaries. OK. Treatment protocol in terms of caupuncture points? Straighten the Dai - check out which is bulging, and place needles at or near GB 25 or points nearby which are Cold, indurated, fibrous, and so on. Add thread moxa 7 to begin with, going up to 20 later when patient used to the practice, till the Dai imbalance has righted itself. Strengthern SP - which is use the horary open point which tones Earth. In the 5 Shu Locator and in any similar work there are a series of exact open points which will do that. Use one point, point neeedle anywhere, leave in for 20 minutes, no thread moxa.. Points so far: 1. GB 25 and nearby non classical points in a ciecle of some 3 cm - thread moxa 2. SP Earth toning horary points as they " open " during the day - no thread moxa 3. If the nasolabial holow is reddish with capillaries, bleed ear apex and add a tiny bird seed onto LI 1 left side. 4. If pulse is showing Hollow add SP 10 one or other by the induration. How to proceed? With great caution, one needs to induce expulsion of the worm by coersion and not aggression. These are fragile and have learned to break up inside and scatter the eggs. Goal of treatment? Consolidate the Wei and Vessel qi, set right the Dai, worm will expell by itself. What not to do? Not to force the issue,, assist body in doing it's thing. Monitor? Mainly by face color and pulse. Precaution? Wear gloves, heavy duty soap and water, throw away clothers or wear a disposable gown, discard table covers, whatever touche patient. What is the infection rate? Almost 50 %. What is the morbidity rate? In tropisc 30%, temperate rare,. Admittedly this is a very limited set of points and a protocol, and the best I could agther together in at short notice. If one wanted to this could go on for a trimester. Dr. Holmes www.acu-free.com Attilio D'Alberto wrote: > Many thanks Kathleen.
