I haven't spent much time there, but drive through it quite a bit, when we go camping up at Palomar, or visit the Lavender Fields in Valley Center. It's great to meet you! I haven't been camping in a long time but I want to start again. My wife's disabled so I will have to go by myself...I used to go out to the desert alone and spend time in that wonderful stillness. I keep meaning to get to the lavender fields. I didn't even know they were there until recently. I just infused some oil with calendula, lavendar buds, chamomile and nettle, then made a tea of all of those and made some bar soap with it...it smells nice and seems to actually help some itchy dogs - I'm told they're itching less. I've sent it to friends and my vet is using it in his clinic. I am also looking into using some other herbs like jewelweed but have to research that more first. Judy in N. Calif.
