Guest guest
WHY YOU NEED TO FORGET THE PAST Many people suffer from persistent sadness and depression because they have the habit of holding onto the past. It is especially true for people who have been heartbroken. As a medical doctor I come across many patients who suffer from reactive depression following broken relationships. They tend to cling onto their past and this increase their mental agony. Always remember one thing - The Past is gone forever. Whatever you do, the past will never come back. You have grown older than what you were, all the characters from your past have also moved on. Things have changed in the world. Face the reality and consciously make sure that you do not cling onto your past. Sophocles (496 BC – 406 BC) the ancient Greek author has said “There is no sense in crying over spilt milk. Why bewail what is done and cannot be recalled?” That milk has gone down the waste pipe; and no amount of protesting and head banging can return it. May be by taking some preventative measures that milk could have been saved. But now it is too late – so stop thinking about it, and move on to the next step. Everyday is a new opportunity. There is no time like the present. If you look around, you will find hundreds of new opportunities. In life one single decision can make a huge difference. Make a commitment to yourself – not to look back from now on. Your present is the result of your past. Similarly your future will be the result of the actions you take now. It may take time to produce effect, but eventually all your efforts will be rewarded. There is no short cut to success in any aspect of life – whether emotional, financial or personal. Your future begins now. Sow the seeds today and you will reap the rewards tomorrow. This is the law of nature which is based on eternal truth. While driving if you keep looking at the rear-view mirror, you will cause an accident. Look forward and you will have a safe journey. Free your mind to see the future and start your journey now.
