Guest guest
Do you have any diagnostic information? It would be helpful to think about the different possible causes for her frequent miscarriages. The only one I can think of is Spleen qi deficiency, but if a patient presents with some other obvious disharmony, you'd probably want to focus on that. I see in one herb book (Chen & Chen) five categories of herbs for " unstable pregnancy " . They include qi deficiency, blood deficiency, kidney deficiency, heat in the blood, and qi stagnation. Do you see any indications of these patterns? On Thu, Jun 4, 2009 at 7:12 AM, aliciajohnsonnmd <aliciajohnsonnmd > wrote: > > > I am seeing a patient who has had frequent miscarriages. Guest guest
I would also suggest refraining from getting pregnant for at least 6 months (usually 1 year is better assuming they make the changes needed) until the disharmony is corrected. Each miscarriage further damages the blood and jing (and likely a few other things). Guest guest
When I started seeing her she had damp heat in the lower jaio, spleen qi deficiency, and kidney deficiency. In western terms, she also had low progesterone and premature ovarian failure--very high FSH. Her last miscarriage was 3 years ago. Thanks for your help! Guest guest
She is only 6 weeks pregnant and progesterone is not doubling. I put her on high dose progesterone and we are doing some acupuncture.
